Tutorial: St. Patrick's Day Nails

 Hello my pretties,

So I did this mani not so long ago and decided to post it up for St. Patrick's Day since the colors are appropriate. It's super fun and easy to do, you don't need a lot of tools nor technique. Ok, basically you can do this with any other color family, I chose green because I had this gorgeous mint green polish from Sally Hansen I was itching to use. Hopefully this step by step picture walk through/tutorial would be helpful ^^

What you need:

• 3 creme polishes from the same color family range from light to dark (e.g light blue, sky blue, dark blue)
• 1 glitter polish from the same color family
• Make-up sponge

What you do:

1.  After Base Coat, apply your lightest color. I did 1 coat because the polish that I used (SH Extreme Wear: Mint Sorbet) was awesomely opaque, but you may want to do at least 2 coats just to make sure. 
2.   Let it dry, apply the medium color. Now the trick is, you pour a blob of the polish on a sheet of paper, dab the tip of makeup sponge on it and dab the sponge right onto your nail half way down to your tips. Dabbing with a lighter hand would create a nicer and more random spots. I used Essence: Lime Up! btw...
3. Repeat the same process but with the darkest color to the lower 3/4 part of your nails that are already covered with the 2nd polish, I used Ulta: The Jungle Look.
4. Now for the last step is applying the glitter. It's basically the same thing, you pour the polish on the sheet of paper, dab the sponge and dab it on the nail. This part you should cover the last area you applied your darkest polish. I used Sinful Colors: Call You Later (this one is gorgeous^^!) 

So the next time you want to amp up your pretty but boring mani like this

Btw last night I decided to store & organize my pigment sample baggies in a better place. For the longest time I've had them sitting in my drawers, and it's always a pain whenever I need to look for one particular color because I had to dig through piles & piles of sample bags.

So I took my unused photo album & stores them according to colors category & brand. It's so much easier now =)

Tutorial: Smokey Purple with KATE Palette

This would be a picture tutorial to create a smokey purple look using 1 palette. The palette that I'm using is a KATE Spicy Line from Kanebo. I bought this great palette when I was in Japan and I hardly used it back then, but now I'm totally liking it a lot because it's so convenient. I can use it in day time and vamp it up for the evening if I want it. The Palette consists of 4 colors, a Silver, Pearly White, Lavender (with green specks, really pretty) and Dark Purple. The big triangles are supposedly the 'shadow' and the rest are 'line shadow'.

That's what I like about Japanese makeup (or even the magazine), they're very clear on the instructions ^_^

What I'm using for overal look


Start with clean & primed eyes, I primed mine with L'oreal De-crease


Apply the color base, NYX Purple JEP, and spread it out with small taklon brush


Should look like this

(doesn't have to be perfect, the reason I used brush to spread out the cream is to prevent creasing as my lid is oily and the NYX Eye Pencil is very creamy)

Take the big brush and apply the light Lavender color to your lid


This is what you should have


Take a round crease brush to apply the dark Purple, and apply on your outer lid


Take some more e/s and apply to your crease as well, make sure you apply lightly and it's better to build up. After that, take the brush you used for lid color, and apply the Lavender color to inner part of crease area.


You'd have this


Then, take the big fluffy brush, apply the pearl White color to your brow bone as a highlighter


Then blend blend blend down to the crease color to get rid of the harsh line


Lastly, take the small pointy brush and apply the Silver color to your lower lash line


Connect the Silver with dark Purple on the outer part, and you're done :D


Don't forget to curl lashes, apply black eyeliner to your upper & lower lash line.
(L'oreal HiP Black Creme Liner & Thevi Onyx Pencil Eyeliner). I used Thevi Mascara as well.

Tutorial: How to MIY Tinted Lip Balm

Do you have any lip balm you hardly touch anymore?

or maybe a blush that doesn't match your skin?

Well, if you do, then you might find this entry quite useful : )

I have some lip balms that are either old or BLAH, meaning very plain and just sitting there alone in the corner without being used. At the same time I also have tons of blush sample I hardly use, some are too dark some are too light.

Today I did some experiment on combining those pity neglected babies and was able to create something interesting.

What you need is:

• Lip balm / Chapstick / Vaseline
• Container (either pots or tube)
• Blush (I'd prefer mineral and make sure it's lip-safe)
• Napkin (this experiment could get messy)
  
• Tooth Pick
• Metal Spoon
  
• Flat Iron (If you're afraid to wreck your iron, you could use Microwave as the heating tool instead)
  

Here's HOW:

First, heat up your Flat Iron to maximum setting then take the chapstick out of the container (or Vaseline) and place it on the metal spoon.


Then, you placed the spoon on the flat iron, wait until it's melted.


Once it's melted, take it out but be careful, DON'T SPILL !


Then, add the desired amount Blush you prepared, you could slowly add until you meet the shade you like. Don't worry if it looks dark, this would be a TINTED lip balm so it wouldn't show up as dark as it looks.


Mix with toothpick, again, beware of spilling... This is the shade I wanted so I stopped there.


After that, carefully pour the liquid into the container you have, mine happened to be a tube.
--> HA HA I spilled !!!

After that, you wait until it's dry


If the amount of balm or Vaseline you're using too much for the spoon, you could do 2 batches, meaning used the 50%, heat up, mix, pour and repeat for the 2nd batch. This probably would be better as you can give time for the 1st batch to dry up and be solid.

Email Me and Gleeful were mixed to make a MLBB muted pink shade while Brick was used alone.

Another fun thing is, I got to name my own lippy !!!! hahahaha

-> I really like this one, and the lip balm I used smells like Pina Colada : )

I know the tube looks kinda messy-looking, but hey, not bad for a first timer, right? LoL besides it's FUN and finally I could use some stuffs rather than throwing them away.

We all could use some Recycle & Reuse once every now & then~ So I hope you find this entry somewhat useful.

TIPS: If you find your balm is quite drying, you could add 2-3 drops of carrier oils (Jojoba, Grapeseed, Kukui or whatever you like) into the mixing.
