Make Your Own Palette Part 2

So I made another palette, this time it was my pressed blushes that have been swarming around in my drawer, I found it's a pain if I wanna travel with them as they have to be stacked and eat up so much room.

If you remember I did a post on how I made my own palette out of DVD case here, it's actually the same concept, except I made it prettier & cleaner LOL Most of my blushes (other than my mineral blushes, which up to this point are uncountable -_-' so I gave up.) are La Femme. They're super pigmented & gorgeous. Here's the original packaging

I really like the retro touch in it

Make Your Own Palette

I recently re-arranged my makeup drawer and noticed I have so many singles flying around, but I have no ready empty palette to depot them into. What I do have is a lot of CD and DVD cases hahahaha I'm serious, I'm a movie addict and my BF is a game freak so imagine how many dvd cases we both own from my movies & his Playstation games.

So after depotting the eyeshadows, I took one unused DVD case, snipped the two paper/instruction holders inside (to make more room for eyeshadows to stick in), glued some magnets, metal sheets, and stick in the eyeshadows. It's cost effective!!!!

Here are the pictures, it's still funny looking because I haven't filled in everything, haven't named nor decorated it =P

First row (big pans) are mostly Jordana eye shadow singles.
The yellow one is my pressed pigment EG Minerals Artic Thaw
and the middle one is Stila Kitten.
Some of my NYXs sit comfortably too =)

DIY Nail Polish: Green Peas

A crafty side of me kicked in again this week, I have a clear nail polish that is just sitting unused at the back of my drawer, so I was like, hmmm what can I do to you?
So I decided to play around with colors! Using my Simply Natural's pigment in Fern which is a gorgeous matte leaf green (can't you tell I have an impulse buying for green pigments?), I made a green polish by mixing it with the clear polish.
I am not confident enough to make the whole batch and make a new polish, or as nail gurus out there say, "Franken" it (from Frankenstein), so I just mix on each application.
What I did was I pour a little bit of clear polish on a container, sprinkle some pigments (small amount is usually enough) mix it with a brush, and apply directly on nails.

I named it GREEN PEAS because it reminds me of them and this is how it looks like

My Recent Project

I've been sleeping like a polar bear lately, damn Turkey for making me sleepy. Although, I'm so excited to write this post because there is something I want to show you.

My beloved gorgeous & incredibly nice Dayna sent me a big package a while ago, I received it the day I was sick so I am confident to say she really made my day : ) Dayna wanted me to try out these generous MIY kit for bath & body products she put together which I was super duper thrilled to play with, and she, being amazing as she is, OF COURSE had to include extras that makes me O.O --> that's the expression btw

I have to admit I haven't gotten around it until today, I was in the creative mood lol so I started off with the Foaming Bath Cream base. I divided them half-half so I could made 2 different scents.

First, I heated them in microwave for 10 seconds just to make it easier to blend, added my fragrance oil, colorants (used for baking) and mix mix mix by hand.

I made Bath Cream with White Truffle Raspberry fragrance oil I got from Valerie's Uncommon Scent and Red color.

This one I had to admit, I heated it a bit too long so when I took this picture the consistency was still 90% perfect...that's why it looks really creamy. BUT it smells so darn good & it's very rinsing : ) White Truffle Raspberry smells exactly like a white chocolate with creamy vanilla and tart raspberry.

Second one is Sugar Scrub ! YEAH !!! I did the same step, only adding white sugar as final step. The sugar granule that I have is very small so it's not scrubby at all, just nicely grainy heheh. I think I'll add a bigger sugar next time.

This one I made with Mint Latte (which absolutely yummy, a lovely infusion of your favorite creamy latte with hint of fresh mint on top) fragrance oil, also from Valerie's Uncommon Scent and Purple color.

Even Simpson family approved hehehehe

I've tried them both and they smell WONDERFUL. I like the hard texture of the bath cream (imagine a frosting) and how much they lather.

I can't thank Dayna enough to got me hooked on this, I'll definitely get more of this base once I'm out.

Tutorial: How to MIY Tinted Lip Balm

Do you have any lip balm you hardly touch anymore?

or maybe a blush that doesn't match your skin?

I have some lip balms that are either old or BLAH, meaning very plain and just sitting there alone in the corner without being used. At the same time I also have tons of blush sample I hardly use, some are too dark some are too light.

Today I did some experiment on combining those pity neglected babies and was able to create something interesting.

What you need is:

• Lip balm / Chapstick / Vaseline
• Container (either pots or tube)
• Blush (I'd prefer mineral and make sure it's lip-safe)
• Napkin (this experiment could get messy)
  
• Tooth Pick
• Metal Spoon
  
• Flat Iron (If you're afraid to wreck your iron, you could use Microwave as the heating tool instead)
  

Here's HOW:

First, heat up your Flat Iron to maximum setting then take the chapstick out of the container (or Vaseline) and place it on the metal spoon.


Then, you placed the spoon on the flat iron, wait until it's melted.


Once it's melted, take it out but be careful, DON'T SPILL !


Then, add the desired amount Blush you prepared, you could slowly add until you meet the shade you like. Don't worry if it looks dark, this would be a TINTED lip balm so it wouldn't show up as dark as it looks.


Mix with toothpick, again, beware of spilling... This is the shade I wanted so I stopped there.


After that, carefully pour the liquid into the container you have, mine happened to be a tube.
--> HA HA I spilled !!!

After that, you wait until it's dry


If the amount of balm or Vaseline you're using too much for the spoon, you could do 2 batches, meaning used the 50%, heat up, mix, pour and repeat for the 2nd batch. This probably would be better as you can give time for the 1st batch to dry up and be solid.

Email Me and Gleeful were mixed to make a MLBB muted pink shade while Brick was used alone.

Another fun thing is, I got to name my own lippy !!!! hahahaha

I know the tube looks kinda messy-looking, but hey, not bad for a first timer, right? LoL besides it's FUN and finally I could use some stuffs rather than throwing them away.

We all could use some Recycle & Reuse once every now & then~ So I hope you find this entry somewhat useful.

TIPS: If you find your balm is quite drying, you could add 2-3 drops of carrier oils (Jojoba, Grapeseed, Kukui or whatever you like) into the mixing.

Making My Own Perfume, Why Not???

I love fragrances, I love to smell good, but the price tag for designer type of perfumes are WHOOPING expensive. Being a perfume addict I do enjoy smelling fragrances and I have to admit I get bored pretty easily, so I like trying many perfumes lol.

Thus, I DO have a signature fragrance that matches my chemistry, and I'm not talking about "oh yeah that smells good on me" perfumes, it's the one that you wear for years and never get bored. Your long-term relationship.

For me it's Clinique Happy Heart

Some people like the Happy version, but this special baby likes me better =P

It's fresh, sexy, fruity, and floral at the same time.

The notes are:

Water Hyacinth, Mandarin, Cucumber, Yellow Primrose, Blond Woods.

So the fragrance came out really unique, a blend of fruit, flower, and wood.

I also enjoy Bath & Body Works and The Body Shop fragrances as well, although my HG The Body Shop (Moonflower) has been discontinued. B&BW offers interesting blends & they rotate a lot every season. Not to mention the crazy sales they always have (annual, semi-annual, christmas, etc)

Now my addiction of fragrances has branched out to food & bakery scents, and I'm glad I found MANY great etailers that sells products with this type of scents.

Rain Forest Soap Shack (RFSS), Because I'm The Princess (BITP), Cozy Moments, Cleanse Your Soul (CYS), are only few amazing company that offers great quality with great price.

I know Simplicity loves her Skindecent :D and I can't wait to try their EDP/EDT/Roll Ons.

Remember when I bitched about Moonflower lines from The Body Shop is discontinued? Well I was able to snatched 2 bottles of their Fragrance Oils thru Ebay, but I know they need to be diluted to be a spray or EDT.

I also received mini vials from BITP that I love, but I noticed whenever I put it on, I am the only one that can smell those yummy scent. Those FO has to be mixed with either Jojoba Oil or Alcohol base. But I had no clue how much and simply HOW.

So I asked around, Jen from Camellia Rose and Simplicity helped me to confirm how to make Body Spray and all I need is:

• Fragrance Oil / Essential Oil
• Alcohol: Everclear *or any Grain Alcohol*, Vodka, Isopropyl Alcohol OR Silicon Base (to make the scent lingers longer)
• Distilled Water
• Empty plastic spray bottle
  

that's it !

This is the basic measurement:

Base	Fragrance
Candlemaking	1 oz. per lb in paraffins
Soy Candlemaking	1 1/2 oz. per lb
Soapmaking	1 oz. per lb.
Potpourri & Sachets	Straight or dilute 1 to 1 depending on preference
Oil Burning	Straight or dilute 1 to 1 depending on preference
Incense Making	Straight or dilute 1-1 (1 part DPG to 1 part FO) depending on preference
Lotion & Shower Gel	1/2 to 1 oz. per lb.
Bath Salts	1/4 oz. per lb.
Perfumes & Colognes	10-35% Fragrance Oil : 65-90% base depending on strength

Now I've only made Body Spray and here's the recipe:

(For 8 oz Spray Bottle)

• 4 oz Vodka/Everclear/Isopropyl Alc.

• 4 oz Distilled Water (I personally use Spring Water for this)

• 1 teaspoon FO or EO

• Pour them in the bottle, cap it, and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE

I tried with smaller batch because honestly the BITP vials are small so I only made 1 oz of mixture.

Now the question is, where can we find the oils?

Simplicity gave me this awesome site for FO supply especially food & bakery scents oils, and I also found another one called Common Scents if you're looking for designer type FO. I saw my Happy Heart FO over there and I'm itching to get it since my Happy Heart perfume just ran out LOL.

They also sell supplies to MIY bath & body products such as: empty bottles, body wash base, shampoo base, thick lotion base, liquid silkbase (silicon base for perfume, EDT, body spray, EDP), etc

The best thing about them is THE PRICE. It's so cheap compare to others, and I've done some research. So far this one is the best price with awesome selections.

Now let me clarify this, I'm 100% supporting all the e-tailers out there and please don't take this post negatively. I am their number one customer and I will keep buying from them because I really admire their creativity to create and blend scents.

The sites I mentioned above only sell individual oils to mix so if you're creative and would love to experiment blending fragrances, I do hope this post would help you.

If we can make our own fragrance with cheaper price, why not, right?
