Product Focus: Kirkland 2009 Makeup Brush Set

I always try to tell myself that I have enough makeup brushes, but my greedy eyes tell me another. If you read my quick teaser post about this 2009 Kirkland Brush Set, you realized I took the picture at Costco, meaning I didn't buy it YET until yesterday. I personally don't have Costco membership but my bf's mom does so we kinda just tag along with her when she goes :P

This is retail for $19.99 and I know Kirkland has came up with surprisingly amazing value set of brushes. I personally bought their 2007 Set and did a sneak peak on their 2008 ones. They are all amazing and this year they did it again.

The set came with:

• 8 full size brushes
• 4 travel size brushes
• 2 makeup case
• 1 eyelash curler

The brushes are all synthetic, although they all look like skunk brush (real black hair & white synthetic tip). They're all SUPER SOFT and the handles are all rubberized so no slip! Here are the look of the sets.

The travel size on is like a mini version of full size,
can also work as blush brush I believe.

It turns out the travel size one is a concealer brush
but I can't see why you can not use it as eyeshadow brush :)

but they work exactly identical.

My take

• A great investment & an amazing value for the quality
• The brushes has a slightly chemical smell upon washing but it went away once it's dry
• I like the size & feel of the brush handles, they feel very sturdy
• The travel sizes set is so cute, the quality is just as awesome
• Love the "quilted" pattern on the makeup case, it looks classy & expensive
• The eyelash curler works so great, it was a nice thrown in to the set
• BUY IT !!!!!!!!!! :D

Remember Kirkland Brush Set I saw last year? I didn't purchase it because I bought the set 2 years ago and I swear by them. Man...they've been making seriously awesome brushes, from the review I read these are all synthetic bristles and they're UBER soft. So make sure to snatch one if you find them!

FOTD: I'm Olive?

It's been a while since I posted FOTD, and in case you all forget how I look like, here is my recent picture with new stuffs I was trying. I honestly don't remember when this was taken but it's most probably last week when I was testing out new shade foundation from EG Minerals.

Honestly the foundation pictures at EG Minerals are misleading, I spent so much time going back & forth reading the explanation just because the order and shades are off, well, few of them.

I tried many shades ranges from Yellow family in Cover Me & Youthful Glo formula, but just recently I branched out to Olive family because I noticed most of yellow shades I tried look too orange.

I'm happy that I think I've found my shade, it's Aileen (Tan golden olive foundation) from Cover Me formula.
---> Looks very olive here but for some reason it blends nicely into my skin and cover all the redness & marks I have from past acne scarring.

Hot Stuff: Cover Girl Lash Blast

First of all, to all my new "Minions" =) !! Welcome to Shizznizzle, ladies. I would like to take this chance to greets you all and hope to see you guys around. Drop by once in a while & say hello, k?

Anyway, another great find at my local Costco, Cover Girl was finally carried with a pretty awesome deal, in my opinion.

A set contains of (3) Lash Blast Mascara in Very Black for $13.99. This would be my first time trying this humongous & dildo-looking mascara, I can't wait to see what the rave was all about.

My local Costco have been getting pretty good deal for cosmetics, most of the times I saw Stila products but they didn't really catch my eyes, the only thing I wished they carry is the set of Stila Duo Eyeshadow set, but unfortunately they never came.

Oh well, better than nothing, aye?

Possible Dazzleglass Dupe?

For some reason I'm never interested on getting MAC Dazzleglass because I'm not big about disco-ball lips and perhaps the steep price tag turns me off from the start anyway.

But when I came across these lipglosses at Costco, I was pretty surprised to see how pretty they are and remind me of Dazzleglass so much.

These are from Kirkland Borghese and they're called High Shine Lip Gloss.

Now, I'm not saying these are 100% dupe because I don't own any MAC version (that'd be unfair to compare, no?). The possible dupablity with Dazzleglass that I think they have are:

• The brush applicators, I much prefer brush than doe-foot, so this is definitely a plus.
• The pigmentation, pretty awesome and it's not sticky on lips.
• The glitter/shine, which is OMG....very very spaaahkly!

The only differences would probably the price. Honestly I have no idea how much each individual lip gloss is because mine came in Kirkland Signature Set I got from Costco, but I saw a High Shine Lipgloss trio set alone which costs $12.99, so it'd be $4/gloss.

the one on the left was a Lip Plumper that came in the set
which has a pretty rose color and works very well although I don't think I need a lip plump.

I'm personally liking the Clear one the most because it has a gorgeous multicolor sparkles
and I can wear it with any lipstick, check out the intensity...

So far the only place I know you can find these is Costco, but I saw them floating around Ebay not so long ago. Hope I can help someone or even better, enable some of you LOL.

Hot Stuff: Kirkland New Brush Set

I strolled around Costco on Sunday afternoon and while my bf was busy checking out the newest Blue Ray movies, I made a visit to a beauty alley and my eyes were set on this:

Yesss, the newest Kirkland Brush Set for $21.99 !

I think these would be the prettiest brush set they came out with so far, noticed the white leather brush roll and white handle with diamond on each end?

And the best thing would be.......The Skunk Brush !!! It's not as big as MAC's or Sonia Kashuk's but it's perfect for applying blushes (smaller coverage, more control), I have the similar brush from Silk Naturals and I love it a lot.

If you're a Costco member, you should definitely check it out coz we all know their brushes are awesome quality...I received their last year's Brush Set, the one with black handle and they're my HG : )

Coscto Crazy Cost

My local Costco is carrying many designer fragrances in pretty awesome deal, I saw L (L.A.M.B), Burberry Brit, Light Blue (D&G), Hanae Mori's Butterfly, Issey Miyake, and many more.

They came out last week so the 'good' fragrance are still around, I'm sure next month they're gonna go on sale and only ehhh one left.


Flowerbomb (Viktor & Rolf), Ed Hardy, Daisy (Marc Jacobs)

The retail price for these are:

• Flowerbomb 3.4-oz. Eau de Parfum, $150.00
• Ed Hardy 3.4-oz. Eau de Parfum, $75.00

But Costco sells them in awesome deal because each of them only costs $45.99 !!

First time I saw it I was like ٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶ then I became ٩(●̮̮̃•̃)۶ and finally٩(-̮̮̃-̃)۶.

Anywhoo, I'm trying out the new eye makeup remover I ordered from Melaleuca:

It's Nicole Miller (yeah the Clothing Designer) brand, she sells her own Makeup lines @ Melaleuca and I've been ordering some of her stuffs, like cleanser & face lotion (ended up giving them away to my bf's mom because it has SLS) but this eye makeup remover, I kept.

I have to say this little thing does the job PRETTY AWESOME, I just pump it out in my hand, rub the cream right onto my eyelids, take off with cotton pad, and rinse with water if I want extra step.

My smokey eye makeup the other day went away in a blink of an eye *pun intended* hehehe

I really like this remover ; )

EOTD: Neutral

I promised my friend Yuko on Vox to do Neutral EOTDs, and yesterday I went out coz my bf wanted to reserve a new Play Station 3 Metal Gear Solid IV console, he hasn't bought PS3 yet and think this would be the best deal since he's also a fan of MGS.

Anyway, I decided to try out a Kirkland palette from Costco which I got a while ago, I got this along with my Kirkland lipsticks & lipglosses inside a makeup case set, so I have no idea how much this should cost alone. The colors are mostly matte, I'm quite surprised because they're actually not bad, I don't expect the super pigmentation like NYXs or TSS but I would say it's decent for a low end brand.

As you see this palette contains 10 colors, you can slide the top layer and find two brushes applicator along with a long mirror.

From these palette I used the two colors in the middle, Chocolate & Khaki.

These are what I use:

Eyes:

• UDPP
• Kirkland: Khaki (inner corner, 1/3 lid)
• KATE by Kanebo: shimmery opaque color (middle lid)
• Kirkland: Chocolate (outer V, up to the crease)
• NYX: Aloha (highlight)
• Revlon Liquid Eyeliner *I ran out of this in the middle of application!! gahhhhhh so pls bare with the messy looking liner*
• Rimmel Soft Kajal Pencil Eyeliner (lower lid)
• Maybelline Full'n'Soft mascara

Lips:
Jordana Lipgloss: Natural

I love how Jordana l/g color pops and don't bother my messy ungroomed eyebrows T_T

Brushes Collection

Ok, I think it's a time for me to share my makeup brushes collection. One note tho, I don't own any of M.A.C brushes.... I know we all agree on the the idea of applying great makeup = using great brushes, but somehow I couldn't drag my ass to go on and buy a $40~something foundation brush, personally, I'd rather buy a great foundation LOL.

(same idea on nail polish, I think a $2,00 nail polish would look as good as a $20,00 ones, what you need is a great base coat and top coat. .... maybe it's just me)

So yeah, here's the pics:

They both shed like madness the first time I use them, but after the first washed they aren't as bad on shedding, and they are very soft.

Costco Brush Set (I get them with the roll bag and a shimmering powder)
The Face brushes:
L-R: Powder brush, Blush brush, Foundation brush, Fan brush (I use it for my super pigmented blush & for contouring my cheekbones), Brow/Lash groomer

The other brushes:
L-R: Eyeshadow brush, Angled eye contour brush (I use it for my inner corner and outter lid), Precision eyeshadow brush (great for crease), Eye smudger, Flat eyeliner brush, Lip brush

Bare Escentuals brushes
(from Beyond the Basics kit) *probably the most expensive brushes I own, but I didn't buy it myself, someone gave it to me hehehe*
L-R: Soft Focus Face brush (I use it for my powder and compact foundation, really soft) and Max Coverage Concealer brush (I love it, get the right amount of both liquid and mineral concealer)

Essence of Beauty brushes:
L-R: Angled cheek contour brush (for bronzer), and two of Crease brushes

Random brushes:
I got them when I was still in Japan so most of them are "Chasity" brand, except the 2nd from the right)

L-R: Small concealer brush (I use it for covering blemishes), Flat eyeshadow brush (this is my staple, I use it for foiling, packs mineral e/s and pigments really well), Fluffy blending brush (to blend harsh lines), Christian Dior brush (I hate it, so scratchy) and Small Angled brush (for eyebrow & lower lid)

and of course, my newest brush,
EDM Flat Top Brush
which I use for applying mineral foundations...love it mucho mucho
