Quick Makeup Tips & Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick Review

Finally an FOTD, right? haha! I did this natural, "I'm just going out to buy tampons" look less than 15 minutes, a very quick & simple trick that will help you to look alive when you only have so little time.

What's used above
  • EG Mineral Face Primer
  • Pure Ananda Niagara Fawn Foundation
  • Thevi Rogue Blush
  • NYX Rootbeer e/s (on crease)
  • Thevi Onyx Pencil Eyeliner
  • Maybelline Totally Toffee Lipstick

My personal tips & tricks for a quick 'awakening' (hahaha!) :
  1. Apply moisturizer before putting on anything on your face, no matter what. A dry flakey skin isn't hot.
  2. If you're lazy putting on foundation, skip it. Use concealer to hide imperfection.
  3. Wear a blush! Applying it on your cheek's apple will make you look flushed & healthy. If you don't have blush around, use your pink lipstick & blend around. If you don't have lipstick either, pinch your cheeks for couple of seconds.
  4. No time for eyeshadows? Just curl your eyelashes & apply black eyeliner in you waterline to accentuate your eyes.
  5. Skip lipstick & apply lipgloss instead.
Having said that, I am currently in love with this particular lipstick that I found in drugstore. It's from Maybelline's newest line that's called Color Sensational. The color that I'm reviewing is from the "brown" family (SURPRISE, HUH? lol) but it's not completely brown as it has a pinkish undertone to it.

The color is called Totally Toffee #215. I am in love with this color because it suits my undertone really well, not too pinky nor nude, just about right. The consistency is also great, it applies like a dream, smooth & moisturizing. It does have a slight rose scent but not too overpowering. I was able to snatch it while my drugstore was having 40% off for Maybelline brand so I got this lippy for about $4. Check out your local store & see if you like this line, I know I do.

Yay Update !!!

Hello my beautiful people,

I'm neglecting this blog, I apologize for that....but now I'm back to update you with some stuffs happened recently.

I was scheduled to renew my passport so I can apply for Schengen Visa (yes I'm traveling soon but I'm not telling WHERE...........yet. lol) Sadly the day I went to the immigration office, the computer broke down right after I got there =( so my 2 hours waiting went down the drain, sometimes I hate the un-professionalism from the government sector in Indonesia, it seriously frustrates me knowing that some things just never change.

Anyway I came back the next morning and finally got it done. Here are some pics I took with mom in front of the place. It is located in the oldest looking part of Jakarta, some buildings are still very "Dutch", if that makes sense. We call it Batavia.

(I'm rocking my new heels hehe)

I was eager to watch Transformer as I'm a big fan of Optimus Prime. Yup, you heard me right...not Shia Lebeouf, not Megan Fox. Optimus Prime is the shit!!!! The sequel was done extremely well and it's very action packed. I watched it the 2nd day the movie was out with my sister and omagaaaaaaah we were floored! Definitely the best movie of 2009, so if you guys haven't seen it, please do so...it's worth your $10......or in my case, $1.5 mwahahahaha.

Last night I also went to see my big family, as usual we met up for dinner at Super Kitchen (seafood place, good but costly T_T). My nephew & nieces have grown up so fast.

my snarly brother, Danar

EOTD: Amethyst Gold Tutorial

So I decided to go on bath & body stuffs No Buy.

Why? Here's why.

The last count of my stash

Scented Body Powder...............1
Scented Massage Oil
.................1
Dry Oil Spray
............................6
Soap .........................................9
Scrub .......................................11
Shower Gel .............................16
Bath Cream .............................18
Fragrance Oil ..........................27
Body Spray ..............................31
Lotion/Cream ..........................40
Perfume ..................................46

............................. I KNOW !!! I can guarantee right at this moment you all look like this Hi5 Emoticon

I didn't give my self a time limit but I am hoping to use up most of these until I buy any more from e-tailer. OH NO next couple of weeks will be so hard for me!!!!

Anyway, I did a look using mostly NYX eye shadow. I always like NYX no matter what people say. To me the color pay off is great for the price. Although I have to agree, some NYX e/s are chalky.

Product Used

  • L'oreal De-crease (base)
  • NYX Golden Poppy (1/3 inner lid)
  • NYX Golden (middle lid)
  • NYX Hot Pink (1/3 outer lid)
  • NYX Purple (outer V)
  • NYX Mink Brown (highlight)
  • Maybelline Night Pink (crease)
  • Thevi Onyx Eyeliner
  • NYX Doll Eye Mascara

Start off with clean eyes, apply L'oreal De-crease all over lid.
Then, take Golden Poppy e/s & apply to inner lid start from tear duct.

Then, pact Golden e/s to middle lid.
Blend nicely with Golden Poppy using side to side motion.

After that, use Hot Pink e/s to fill in the last 1/3 area of lid,
take it up to the crease until it meets Golden e/s.

Adding a more 'oomph' to the color, take Purple e/s and lightly apply it over Hot Pink

I like to deepen my crease so I apply a dark purple e/s on crease.
Unfortunately I didn't have NYX so I took my Maybelline e/s in Night Pink.
I also applied it on my lower lash line.

Lastly I applied NYX Mink Brown to my brow bone as highlighter, and a black pencil eye liner w/ mascara to complete the look.

Wish me luck on the no-buy! Hi5 Emoticon
Thanx for reading, hope you are all well~

Xmas Eyes with Amuse Palette

Spent too much to buy your beloved ones Christmas presents?
You don't need to spend another fortune to look 'expensive' for celebrating the best time of the year, I decided to challenge myself to create a festive look with low-end products.

I know MAC or Urban Decay would produce a gorgeous look (if applied right, of course) but if I could pull it of with more humble *cough* cheap *cough* items, that'd like a double pleasure to me. Yup, PLEASURE. haha.

So, I used this Amuse Pixi Palette from Cherry Culture which only costs me 3 freakin' bucks. It's quite small & compact but the pigmentation is pretty awesome for the price.

Used for the look: Red, Green and Golden (next to the red) color

Products Used:

  • L'oreal De-crease
  • NYX Yogurt Jumbo Eye Pencil (base, all over lid)
  • Amuse Golden (1/3 inner lid)
  • Amuse Red (middle lid)
  • Amuse Green (outer corner)
  • NYX Mermaid Green (over Amuse Green & crease)
  • NYX Mink Brown (highlight)
  • NYX Moss Eye Pencil (lower lash line)
  • L'oreal HiP Black Creme Liner (upper lash line)
  • Thevi Onyx Eye Pencil (lower water line)
  • Thevi Mascara

Be Merry, everybody !!!

Product Review: Thevi Cosmetic

As I promised, I am doing a review on Thavi Cosmetic I got couple days ago.

Thevi Cosmetic addresses their products to women with color, and according to Thevi Thambirajah, the founder of the company, beauty is a way of empowerment, that's what made her decided to create a line of prestige makeup brand with rich and vibrant colors without being 'harsh'.

"I know that there are many, many women like me. Women to whom ‘natural’ means ‘colorful.’ After all, what is more natural than a flower, a butterfly, a sunset?
Thevi Thambirajah - The Founder

The first time I received the package, I was amazed by their sleek packaging and a pretty looking brochure : ) As you guys can see on the previous post, the products were wrapped in a bag, inside a box.

These are the products I received:

Mineral Pressed Powder SPF 8: Pressed face powder with a unique blend of micro-minerals and skin nurturing vitamins A, E and C, offers skin perfection, protection and flexibility. Hypoallergenic. Oil-free. Talc-free. Fragrance-free. 0.39 oz. Price: $30.00

I got the one in Mocha, the 2nd darkest color and it is too dark for my skin, it makes me look like I have a fake tan. The compact comes with a round white sponge. The main ingredients are Titanium Dioxide & Zinc Oxide, just like other mineral powder, but I noticed they still have Methylparaben and Propylparaben, and unfortunately I've been avoiding anything-paraben so I guess that's a turn off for me.

Sheer Matte Blush: The most amazing blush ever. Rich, vibrant color that looks totally natural. Micro-milled pigments glide on smooth, sheer color with a velvety soft finish that becomes one with your skin. Enriched with conditioning, protective Vitamins C and E. Hypoallergenic. Mineral oil-free. 0.12 oz. Price: $22.00

Rouge is a very pretty plum-ish pink (the picture is actually pinkier than the real color). I like how vibrant this blush is and one swipe is enough for both cheeks. I'm serious : P

Triple Split Shadow: Color coordinated eye shadow, for a finished look, in shades that show up on darker skin. Water-proof. Crease-resistant. Formulated with skin-conditioning Vitamins C and E. Hypoallergenic. Mineral oil-free. Price: $22.00

I love this trios, it feels very velvety and the green is just perfect. This is my favorite products from Thevi.

Automatic Longlasting Liner: The perfect pencil: part treatment, part color. Tug-free formula swivels up, glides on, leaves a line of rich, creamy color. Enriched with chamomile extract to soothe and comfort the delicate eye area. Hypoallergenic. Price: $16.50

Lush Mascara: This gentle, lash-lengthening formula refuses to clump or smudge, and removes easily without rubbing or tugging. Hypoallergenic. Fragrance-free. Specially tested for sensitive eyes. Price: $18.00

Nothing special about these two, they do the job, but I probably would go for a cheaper ones.

High Impact Lipstick: Sensual lip color. Advanced formula lipstick with unique chroma-shine technology provides rich color intensity with a super glossy finish that’s virtually weightless, yet won’t wear off. Plus it’s packed with Vitamins A, E and C for anti-oxidant protection and conditioning. In an array of gloriously colorful shades. Hypoallergenic. Price: $22.00

GORGEOUS! The shade 'Plush' is actually a light maroon color that shows up very chic & professional. It's very moisturizing as well.

Final say: I like the idea of vibrant color makeup, and couple of products do stand out for me (the eyeshadow and lipstick) but I wish they have a better selection of products, like say, lip glosses, or maybe more eye shadows (they only have the trios and matte shadows).

Another con I have about this is THE PRICE. It's pretty expensive, in my honest opinion, and I personally would just grab a drugstore products with similar vibrancy and much much lesser price.

Here are the FOTD I made using Thevi Cosmetic

Face
Mocha Mineral Pressed Powder

Cheek
Rouge Blush

Eyes
Hemosphere Triple Split Shadow (using the lightest color as highlighter on brow bone)
Onyx Eyeliner
Black Lush Mascara

Lips
Plush Lipstick

Thanx Thevi, for sending me these cool products ^_^

Thevi Cosmetic

A new cosmetic line called Thevi Cosmetic based in NYC contacted me via e-mail and asked if I would like to review their products. I said of course, I would love to :D

Thevi is a unique line because it caters to the new ethnic market, light to dark skinned woman of Asian, South Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean descent.

I am really excited because having 'color' could be a hassle to find makeups that compliments our undertones and actually SHOW UP on the skin.

I also was asked to pick some products I'd like to try along with my shade. I told the CS since I am using mineral makeups while trying to balance my skin care issue, I wouldn't prefer a liquid foundation. I noticed the foundations they offer are all MINERAL. I'm happy about that fact, but I have to try it out to give a final say.

After a week the package finally arrived : )

The Pretty Brochure and the Goods

What I got:

I'm gonna do a breakdown review on each items and hopefully create a FOTDs using all Thevi.

So stay tuned ^_^
