My story:
Believe it or not, I am 22 years old and I've never had a short hair...it's not like I hate short hair on me, sometimes when I got bored I tried fooling around with my hair and made it short by rolled in some parts and honestly I thought I wouldn't look too bad.
My reason is I have this slight wavy and heavy texture of hair, it looks straight now because it's long (my hair weigh down itself LOL) therefore if I cut it short, I'd look like a mushroom -_-' trust me, my sis has the same texture and she has short hair most of the time hehehe
I've never permed my hair, once I had them straightened in salon using a smoothing ion technique since at that times I saw my high school friends had their hair straightened by 'bonding' or whatever you call it, and it damaged their hair in the long run.
So I got them straightened, and surprisingly it lasted almost 2 years ! I had my hair pretty damaged prior to the straightening since I used flat iron almost everyday without even spraying any heat protecting products and I use Pantene shampoo & conditioner which somehow dried up my hair like no other.
Plus, I liked to dye my hair and have some hi-lite here & there, so it was a double-damaged for my hair...That's why ever since I got it straightened I started to pay more attention to my crown and since it is my preference to keep it long, I guess it's my responsibility to maintain it right?
Ok moving on, I would like to list my fav hair products and I dunno if this has been done before but just for fun I'm gonna tag some people in the end :D
Length: Long (almost touch my waist)
Type: Straight (not pin straight tho)
Condition: Unmanageable LOL (pretty dry on the tip)
Color: Brownish Black (from my coloring 3 months ago hehe)
Favorite Shampoo & Conditioner:
~L'oreal Elseve Smooth Intense
(helped my hair recover from its dryness & dullness, made it stronger and smoother. I used it for about a year, yes I fell in love... *note: it was the original line, not the new VIVE Pro)
~Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine
(loooooove the smell, my bf said it smells like melon & kiwi ^_^ and it's really conditioning & left my hair feels so light)
~John Frieda Brilliant Brunette
(really made my brown color hair pop and boost the shine, smells like coconuty-cocoa hehehe)
~Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship
(this one is my new fav, I was really happy when Clairol came out with this line...I obviously needed something to give more nutritions to my long hair -this is the longest length I have so far-)
Favorite Deep Conditioner:
~L'oreal Elseve Smooth Intense Mask
~L'oreal Elseve Color Vive for Colored Hair Protective Mask
~L'oreal Elseve Nutri Gloss Intesive Shine Mask
yeah I know I'm such a L'oreal sucker for hair, I just loved their hair mask, it actually DID something to my hair, you gotta love the feeling when you know it's working on you :D
Favorite Leave in Conditioner:
~L'oreal Elseve Smooth Intense Serum
(my HG for almost 2 years..really smoothen out my frizzy hair)
~L'oreal Elseve Nutri Gloss Pearl Protein
(bought it in Japan, the serum has some pearl twinkle in it, so my hair was really shiny after I slathered this all over hehehe)
~Frederik Fekkai Glossing Serum
(I got the big tube from Sephora, contained pure Olive Oil, works wonderful, I can use it before and after I blowdry to add shine)
~Aussie Sydney Smooth Heat Protector + Leave in Conditioner Spray
(I love the double jobs :D and it smells like grape!)
~Frederik Fekkai Glossing Serum
(Yup, I use this serum before I use flat/curling iron, it protects and leaves shine at the same time.)
Favorite Curl Booster:
~TRESemme Curl Activator Spray
(Hands down..this is the bomb. I sometimes don't even need curling iron, just spray this around and scrunch my hair til it's dry while doing something else, and when it's fully dry I could get a sexy beach wave :D)
~Paul Mitchell Round Trip
(It works ok, but since this is a liquid form sometimes it can be crunchy when I use too much. It smells great tho)
Favorite Hair Spray:
Nada. I'm not a hair spray person, I do have a Paul Mitchell travel size hair spray but I rarely use it)
Ok so I'm tagging:
Audge
Christiana
Christy
Shawnta
Nikki
Hair Tips:
- Try to switch shampoo & conditioner line once you're done with one bottle, because your hair developed some sort of resistance to the product performance over months of using, so it's not surprising when you feel that the new products work wonders on you but after a while it just stops doing good stuffs. Well, if the new products you try just don't seem to work as good it's only mean one thing, THE PRODUCT SUXXX lol
- For girls (or guys O.0) who straightened their hair permanently, just like I did, when your hair starts growing from your roots, you will notice some sort of "gap" or obvious line where your upper parts will carry your original hair type (curl/wave) and the end is pin straight, so in order to minimize the weird looking, what you can do is trim your ends as much as it grows out from the roots. After a while it will find it's own balance and the contrast would not be as obvious. Plus, trimming your hair is important to prevent split ends.
Hope that helps :D

As for the chemically straightening, I remember I was thinking about doing that awhile back when it got really popular. But then I already had thin area, so if I was to get it...I would have no hair...lol
hahahahahah yeah there's this one girl in my school who got really thin hair and I dunno what was she thinking when she got it straightened..she looked like she was just walkin in the rain all the time heheheh.
No problemo...just do it whenever, I 'd love to know what hair products work on you guys ^_^

I gotya!! I have the same type of hair you have!!! I always have my hair short during my highschool years and I just can't figure why it looks "mushroom-y" hehehe and when I grew to be interested with hair and everything (especially now I'm cutting people's hair), I made sure to check their texture and length really is important for wavy hair like us! I love your shampoos! and I love l'oreal too! :D
Thats true, a while back when Victoria Beckham's bob was in I kinda wanted to try it but then I realized I would look like I'm wearing helmet with that hair LOL LOL
