Review & Swatch: theBalm and the Beautiful Palette

I came across this palette at TJ Maxx while casually browsing for random things I probably don't need more in my life (read: makeup, nail polish, shoes) and I was excited to find out that this particular palette was a Fall 2011 edition with the same exact colors of their The Muppet Show Cast Your Shadow palette. The Muppet-themed palette was UBER limited since they apparently decided to only make 1000 of them. What a dick move. LOL JUST KIDDING.

Anyway, theBalm and the Beautiful Palette is soap opera themed and its case was designed with intention to resemble an old television. It's made out of cardboard box and magnetized.

Inside, the palette contains of 1 brush, 16 eyeshadows, 2 lip/cheek stains, and 1 lipgloss. Usually I dislike palette which has eyeshadows and lip products in the same place, because it's ALWAYS messy and ends up looking gross really fast. However, whoever designed this case had a brilliant idea to make a separate lid or the eyeshadows and the lip stuffs. THANK YOU, whoever you are!

Before I continue, can we stop for a moment and appreciate the humor behind the shade names? The Guy Who Died But Didn't Really Die & The Basket Case made me chuckle whenever I open this palette up LMFAOOOO

The texture of these shadows are AMAZING. They're buttery soft, easy to blend and very-well pigmented. My favorites would be The Supermodel, The Mother-In-Law, The Step Brother, The Basket Case (lol) and The Brain Surgeon.

Lips & Cheeks

The Drama Queen (lip/cheek stain): coral red with watermelon color payoff -> love love love!!!
The Perfect Man (lip/cheek stain): blue-toned pink with glossy finish (rather use it as lipgloss since it's shiny)
The Evil Twin (lipgloss): pigmented creamy nude pink (awesome for smokey eye)

Overall I think this is an amazing palette to have with the color choices and its great quality. I personally enjoy the unique eyeshadow colors and the nice, wearable lip stains. If you could find it, I'd say grab it....AND GRAB IT FAST!

Not-So-Scary Purple Lips?

I wasn't sure if my previous post did justice on how beautiful Revlon Berry Haute looks in real life because I just realized the picture I had wearing it was a little warm toned. Here is how Berry Haute would look in normal lighting:

It's a wearable purple that doesn't look washed out on lips, I absolutely adore the finish which is very creamy with no sparkles whatsoever and the blue tone purpley pink color makes my teeth look whitener. Another good news is that Berry Haute is a very moisturizing lipstick. I honestly never expected to reach out for this color as much as I have but apparently I've gone through almost half the tube and I just bought this 2 months ago (in my record, this is amazing) so really....... YOU NEED TO GO GET YOU SOME.

Product Review & Swatches: Revlon Lipsticks

I finally jumped into the Revlon lippy bandwagon and quite pleased with the quality. I got 4 Super Lustrous (in Creme finish) & 1 Matte lipstick.... they are all pigmented and glide on smoothly. The least favorite texture from the bunch would be Siren because it seems to be more drying than the others. I purposely wean off the nudes since I already had tons of them and during the colder seasons, I'd prefer to have darker lips anyway.

Product Review: My Beauty Diary Sheet Mask

I came across this Asian beauty product when I was searching for a pore refining mask. You know there are gazillion masks out there and they claim the same thing: to make your skin looks better. Well, I DO think mask is quite necessary in skincare regimen although it's not the main focus (cleanser, toner, moisturizer, exfoliation, treatment). Wise to say a mask would be a "luxury" for those whose skin aren't so problematic but for me who's always battling acne due to my genetically oily skin with large pores, masks are important.

If you've been following this blog for a long time, you know my love for clay masks and the goodness they bring..but for once I felt like trying something new, and that's when I stumbled upon this brand. My Beauty Diary (such a cute name!) is a Taiwanese brand which specializes in masks and other skincare products. The thing that caught my eyes was that their scents sound VERY EDIBLE... I think that's where they got me (lol I love food okayyyyy)

It was actually hard for me to stay focus and follow what my skin needs, not what I feel like nomming. After so much research I narrowed it down to this particular sheet mask that is Earl Grey Tea & Macaron. I mean........how nice does it sound? This sheet mask has a lot of good things in it, including sweet almond protein extract, bergamot essential oil, black tea ferment, and blueberry extract. They claim to brighten, getting rid of the dullness, refreshing the tired skin, and giving antiseptic effect to reduce inflammation in case your skin is red or irritated. Earl Grey Tea & Macaron Sheet Mask is supposedly suitable for normal skin but I figured, what the heck.

So I ordered it through Ebay (after comparing shipping cost with Sasa, YesStyle etc, Ebay still gives me the best price) and it came after approximately 7-10 days. The box contains of 10 individually wrapped sheet masks ($18.60 including s&h) so overall I think you get a very good deal.

Review
As instructed, you're supposed prepare your face (cleanse + tone the skin prior to using mask), then you open the packaging, pull out the mask which should still be attached to its plastic. Then, gently place it on your face while trying to find the suitable position (I found the mask is quite big so you have to maneuver it to fit your face). Now, here's what I do that they don't tell you in the back of packaging: you will find the mask will still have a lot of serum left in the packaging, and I hate to waste stuff so I normally just take the leftover and smear it all over my jawline and neck. Then I leave it on for 20-30 minutes (well...sometimes I forget and leave it up to 45-60 minutes, but apparently my face didn't fall off or anything scary, so I guess it's fine lol) and take it off. I'd like to rinse my face with water afterwards but I read some girls like to leave it as it is.

Now, does it really do what it claims to do?

HECK
YES.

I mean, I could actually see result right away..which is crazy. My skin does appear brighter right after I wash my face. It also gives my skin this calming feeling, like I just run ice cube all over...and it just feels sooo good. Now, I'm not easily impressed when it comes to skincare. I have tried many different types of cleanser/treatment/mask, you name it, and they all mostly take time to show effect on my skin. But this one is just surprisingly good and definitely gives me immediate effect.

I love having this mask around, you know...for those days when you have important dates or meetings where you want to look refreshed and healthy. This mask is like a quick pick-me-up.

Another thing I shouldn't forget to mention is THE SCENT. Oh. My. God. It smells soooooooooo good and refreshing, like chamomile tea with lemon or something, and it's not overpowering at all. I'd just order for the smell to be honest with you... There was that week where I used this mask 3 days in a row just because :P

Anyway, I really do recommend this mask, not just for people with problematic skin (I'm acne-prone, oily skin for reference) because Earl Grey Tea & Macaron sheet mask does really amazing thing your skin regardless. You can order them from Sasa, YesStyle, or Ebay (<- I just found a cheaper deal, darn it!)

So, please hit me back if you've tried this one or other My Beauty Diary masks, I'd love to branch out and try more :) But before I end this, enjoy my face wearing this mask.....I looked morbid due to the fact that I was using my last sheet mask and forgot to buy more lol

My 2011 Favorite Summer Fragrance

Why yes, for those who have been wondering what has happened to me and this blog...

I know, it's been a while since my last post but I'm here to tell you that I just recently moved back to Hawaii (wooop wooooooop!) and am STILL settling in. To be honest, moving is such a pain in the derriere, everything is so hectic, time-consuming and in the end I always felt so poor once all done.

Not cool bro.

But that's life, right? At least here in Hawai'i the sun isn't as tormenting like the one in Florida and knowing how the people are in Hawaii, summer is all-year round.

And speaking of summer, since the season is almost ending (except for you, lucky Australian folks ^_*), I've decided to show you some fragrances I've used the most this year.

L'Occitane en Provence - Fleurs de Cerisier (Cherry Blossom)
cherry, freesia, black currant, lily of the valley, rose tree, amber, musk

This fragrance came out in 2007 and I've fallen in love ever since. I believe this is supposed to be a Spring fragrance but the sweetness yet fresh-vibe encouraged me to wear it all the way to Summer. If you think that this is yet another "Cherry Blossom" scent like what Bath & Body Works is fond to make flankers of, you are mistaken. In fact this doesn't like cherry blossom at all. The fragrance isn't all too floraly nor fruity, it's just about right. There's this hint of freshness out-of-the-shower feeling too which, I personally think, is perfect for Spring, although there were some of those days during Summer when I sort of smelled an apple cider note from this (lol). Nevertheless, it's a gorgeous, feminine, and "tame" fragrance that I could see many women would love. The only complaint I have, is that I wish it'd stay longer on my skin.

Chanel - Chance Eau Fraiche
citruses, cedar, pink pepper, water hyacinth, jasmine, teak wood, orris, amber, patchouli, vetiver, white musk

It's probably my most wearable citrus fragrance. I purchased this in Paris in 2009 during summer when I went on a tour with my family and ever since this fun fragrance reminded me of France. I loooooooove the flirty-ness that this perfume gives since the Eau Fraiche was dedicated to younger audiences. The notes are working together beautifully that in the end you can't simply pinpoint what are in there, except that it's fun, fresh, and free-spirited.

Girard - Bali Sunrise
orange, mandarin, pear, lemon, grapefruit, lily, rose petals, night-blooming jasmine, sandalwood, patchouli, velvety musks

I merely purchased this 2008 fragrace for the name :) but it surprisingly turned out to be a summer cocktail in a bottle. In the opening, Bali Sunrise is very fruity and heavy on the pear & citrus but as soon as it evolves, the floral notes started to emerge. This is a nice blend of fruity-floral fragrance without being too mainstream. I also like the fact that the ombre-colored bottle looks like a mango heheh.

Jennifer Lopez - Deseo
watery bamboo leaves, yuzu, bergamot, freesia, star jasmine, pink geranium flower, orange blossom, mimosa, warm amber, oak moss, musk, sandalwood, cedar, patchouli, mineral accord

I was a proud user of Glow back in college and this would be the 2nd fragrance from J.Lo that I've tried. I'm at the point where I think most of celebrity fragrances smell the same with their fruity-floral candy-sweet bubbly personality such as *ehm* Paris Hilton *ehm* so when there is a gem or two, I would be surprised and kindly try it out. Deseo is surprisingly complex and sultry. The kind you wear on hot summer nights with your strapless gown, taking a romantic stroll along the beach line with your loved ones. The opening is citrusy from the Yuzu and as it settles on skin, Deseo morphed into a sweeter woodsy scent. The floral notes are doing a good job of keeping the scent not overly woody and although it doesn't really evolve too much as it wears on the skin, this fragrance is quite unique and not offensive. The bottle is gorgeous too!

GUESS - Guess for Women
tangerine, bergamot, green apple,freesia, peony, muguet, peach, red fruit, magnolia flower, cedarwood, moss, skin musk, amber

Despite of the helplessly tacky bottle, I really enjoy wearing this fragrance day or night. It's very vibrant, full of life, and makes me want to do something whenever I wear it. It may sounds weird but you should never underestimate what scents do to you, and this particular one does make me feel kind of....active. I can see why older women tend to stay away from this perfume because it's also sweet (but not in a Pink Sugar way) and we all know sweet translates young, but if you're brave enough and feel like you need a dash of fun juice, give this a ~~try~~ sniff.

Kenzo - L'Eau Par Kenzo
lilac leaves, reed stems, mandarin, vanilla, water lily, pepper from guinea, white peach, amaryllis, blue cedar, floral musk, wild mint

If Chanel Chance reminds me of France, L'Eau Par Kenzo reminds me of Italy. I exclusively wore this perfume during my trip to Italy and whenever I sniff this, I was brought back to those hot sticky summer days in Tuscany. L'Eau Par is a daytime fragrance (the site mentioned it) and I can see why. It's just very fresh, aquatic and light. I love using this after working out because it gives me a boost and energy.

Summer to me is the season of color appreciation when you have a chance to wear bright colors, just because. I haven't done bold makeup in a while so this time I really had fun and be reminded how sometimes there is no limit in what you do, as long as you embrace it.

I used my trustworthy Urban Decay Deluxe Palette, that little sad palette had been collecting dust in the bottom of my drawer, untouched for almost a year (yep!) because I just simply didn't reach for it during the fall and winter months.

The colors I used are Fishnet, Ransom, Graffiti, Peace, and a bit of Zero.

Revisit: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

I previously reviewed and swatched them here but ever since I've gotten two more shades which look kind of similar (yep i'm blah in lip color choice department so sue me) but these are the ones I commonly reach for so yea...

The new shades I got are Milan and Stockholm. In comparison to Antwerp, Milan is more cool toned (they're both pink AND gorgeous). As for Stockholm, it's warmer than Abu Dhabi and has more of a peach undertone. They are all gorgeous, I adore the pigmentation and the finish, and they don't wear off too easily either.

Perfume Review: Wiggle

Wiggle Perfume and Sundries is a indie perfume oil company with burlesque theme store and label. As soon as you see the images and descriptions, you will immediately catch their sultry and classically naughty background.
Catering to the unique female individual, even by the names and backgrounds they chose for their products, Wiggle offers a wide variety of scent depends on your preference (feminine, sexy, mysterious, fun).

I honestly was attracted by their labels and after long months of holding back I finally caved in and ordered six samples ($2.00 each) but I just noticed yesterday they raised up their price to $3.00 per sample vial. I had troubles narrowing down my choices but I finally settled with:

Anna May
Speakeasy Vanilla
Honeysuckle Sweet Tea
Sakura
Buxom
Manora
Lila (free sample)

ANNA MAY
(peony, green tea, wisteria, white musk, orchid, ginger, soft incense, lychee)
~ This smells like an airy spring days when the cherry blossom blooms and you sit with your picnic table, hair down, enjoying nature. Although the notes are mostly floral, they're not dominant. The lychee as a top note did gives a vibrant sweet opening but then the scent becomes softer and girlier. The incense and ginger are barely detectable unless you inhale really deep like a coke addict (ok maybe not really). The spices are somewhere in the background, hiding, and magically morph Anna May into a more complex fragrance.

SPEAKEASY VANILLA
(bourbon vanilla, sultry amber, frankincense, white musk, bay rum)
~ If you love vanilla scent and think Solstice Scent Cenobite is too boozy/sweet for you, give this a try because this one is like a more powdery version of Cenobite. The beginning is quite warm but the dry down is definitely more powdery and multidimensional. The incense is definitely there, creating this feminine, classic grown up vanilla. It's pretty soft and comforting. A must try.

HONEYSUCKLE SWEET TEA
(black tea, honeysuckle, golden honey)
~ Wow, this one is very realistic. It's a well balanced combo of those three notes above and I can't tell you which one is stronger just on a cold sniff. It's that kind of fragrance you wear in those sticky hot and balmy summer nights. A tea lover would really enjoy this one but on me the drydown smells just like honey which is not my cup of tea. HA!

SAKURA
(cherry blossom, Egyptian musk, red santal, fresh cut grass, nag champa, pink grapefruit)
~ You know you can easily tell that a scent is "old-fashion" but I can never actually know that there is such thing as "new-fashion" until I smell this one. Everything screams au courant, vibrant, fresh and modern. Not sure if I make any sense but scent wise, it's really unique, the pink grapefruit in the opening fools you into thinking that this would be a straight up fruity scent, but that's not the case. Not at all.

BUXOM
(rich bourbon vanilla, English rose, red musk, powder)
~ I frustrated myself yesterday because this reminds me of something I've smelled when I was a child but I can't remember what it is. After a long painful search on Google of "What Buxom smells like" and "Buxom reminds me of..." with no result, I give up and focus on the notes. It's a very classic feminine powdery rose that also has a dry pastry note (i know it's weird) but the site says Buxom usually evolves differently on everyone's skin so it may smell totally different on you.

MANORA
(black tea, lotus, coconut)
~ Oh my god Thai Iced Tea creamy goodness come to me !!!! It's so yummy and the tea balances out the heady lotus note. I love how the coconut in this one smells dry, and not tanning lotion-y. A must try, definitely!

LILA
(lilac, black musk, vanilla, black tea, black rose, black pepper)
~ Don't you hate it when you order a bunch of samples and you get one free extra, and that one extra turns out to be your uttermost favorite? Yeah this is it. I actually was very surprised because Lilac on me always smells odd. Notice how 4/6 of the notes have "black" in them? :) This smells nothing dark or haunting, instead it's very feminine and soft. The lilac smells very romantic (if that's even possible lol idk) and makes you feel like a sexy retro actress going out on a romantic dinner; polka dot shoes, red lipstick, white pearls and all.

Their 5ml perfume oils are $15 whereas the 15ml are $39 each. Honestly I do think the price is quite steep and it's probably the only downside I can think of from this company. The perfumes staying power is decent, Speakeasy Vanilla and Buxom last the longest on my skin (around 5-6 hours) and some only hold for 2 (Sakura and Anna May). Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase and I'm considering to get Lila in full size when I'm not broke ^^

Another long overdue review which I always regret and apologize for... I could swear to you I planned to blog about this company right after I received my order but apparently my brain was somewhere else along with my memories. Anyway, let's start before I forget about it again

Wylde Ivy is a perfumery artisan whose product are uniquely blended and vegan friendly. I've seen them mentioned many times especially by those who enjoy musky and fruity-floral scents. Their blends are well known to be very complex, delicate and sophisticated. I honestly have no idea why it took me so long to make an order from them. I took a plunge and ordered their 5 Mini Perfume Spritzers Set from their Etsy store when they had a 15% off discount back in May.

The scents I chose are: Indigo Moon, Simple Love, Moonflower, She's So Flirty, It's My Party (Good Girl Edition). Along with my order I was given 2 free sample vials in the scents of: Neroli Creme and Muse.

"Indigo Moon" ~Wylde Blend~ Indigo Moon, dreamed into being by a Wylde Ivy customer, is sugared plums, soft red currants, sweet cream apples, vanilla drenched musk, and sheer white amber. The waning crescent moon hangs delicately in the ink blue sky as a 1000 glistening jeweled stars pierce the indigo night.

"Simple Love" ~Wylde Blend~ To honor my twin baby girls, I wanted to create a fragrance to reflect the amazing feeling of being the presence of uncomplicated, perfect, unconditional...Simple Love. A light, airy fragrance of euphoria, gentle and inviting. Like love, this has a delicate nature, yet invokes such powerful emotions. Let Simple Love surround you. "Neroli Creme" ~Wylde Blend~ The timeless, gracefully scent of orange blossoms meets the simplicity of pure vanilla cream.

"Muse" ~Wylde Blend~
Muse [Middle English, from Old French, from Latin Mûsa, from Greek Mousa.] meaning a source of inspiration.
The Scent: Light and airy white musk meets delicately sweet ribbons of sugar intertwined around subtle notes of vanilla beans, orange glazed berries, and soft white florals. Be inspired.

Review:

Indigo Moon - On a cold sniff it smells very plum-y, it quickly settles down and the amber starts to emerge, making it deeper and almost smokier. This reminds me of a sugar plum scent which I honestly was never a fan of, very sugary with dry berries and a bit of musk in the background. This one is just an ok for me, I don't love it but it's also not offensive by any means.

Simple Love - Ok, I might be delusional but this is a dead-on Philosophy Falling In Love scent which I owned. I even Googled the notes and turns out they're pretty similar. I'm not calling it a dupe or anything because this is supposed to be Wylde Ivy's house blend but to my nose they are very very very similar.

Moonflower - Be completely honest with you I ordered this one because of the name. You know my long sappy old love story with The Body Shop Spirit of Moonflower, so when I saw this scent I was kinda hoping to get something close to that discontinued scent, but WI Moonflower is nothing like it. This is obviously a white floral scents, on the first sniff I was welcomed by the gorgeous gardenia and jasmine. The musk appears after a couple of minutes and pretty much stays in the background. I can't really smell any violets although it was listed but I'm kinda glad because violet tends to be a little cloying. This blend is beautiful and I can see myself wearing it to a garden picnic or one of those spring days when you just want to smell light and pretty. Definitely a day time scent.

She's So Flirty - This one took me 2 tries to finally understand it, which is a shame because this turned out to be my favorites of the bunch. The green apple definitely dominant in this blend but don't worry, you won't smell like a jelly roncher because there is so much more to it. The sandalwood and amber add a sexy and mysterious vibe whereas the jasmine and citrus "beautify" this perfume and make it smells less fruity-generic. This blend developed on my skin and it smells more complex the longer I wear it. A must try, even if you're not an apple fan :)

It's My Party Good Girl Ed. - Sweet, sweet, sweet. I smell sugar, musk and more sugar. Those of you who enjoy sticky sweet cotton candy scents, this one is for you. If I tried this perfume back in 2008 I might have had enjoyed it very much but unfortunately this one is too been-there-done-that scent, which is definitely my fault for having to try too many similar scents in this category before. This perfume reminds me of BBW Warm Vanila Sugar which is a long time favorite of mine. I might wear this on my fun days when I feel like a teenager again, running around in midnight carnivals with two giant fluffy pink cotton candies in my hands.
Added: The drydown smells kind of odd for me, not sure what it is but it doesn't go well with my body chemistry. Boo :(

Neroli Creme - Amazing, is all I can say. Sometimes less is more because this blend only consists of orange blossoms and vanilla creams, but it smells soooooo dang pretty. It's soft, it's creamy, and it makes you want to cuddle with your lover under a giant blanket and your favorite sentimental movie playing on TV. Gorgeousness in a bottle, period.

Muse - I believe this is a revamp version of their famous line and people said they don't smell the same anymore. I haven't tried the old one so I can't really say much about it but what I know that Muse smells close to Pink Sugar, in a less-cloying way (which is why I felt like I'm very familiar with it). Again, the sugar definitely speaks loud and clear in this one, along with the musk and vanilla. I can't pick up too much of the floral but it does develop into something more complex than It's My Party Good Girl Edition. I like this one better, obviously, ~~since I'm old now~~.

Final Say:

I am quite pleased with my order, and especially with the free samples I got, I definitely want to try more of their floral scents. Based on my experience, I could say that their sugary blends are no joke, and they are mostly overpowering the other notes. I am happy with the ones without, especially Neroli Creme and She's So Flirty. Overall a very good experience with Wylde Ivy, if you have tried them please leave me a comment below and let me know which one should I try next.

FYI, Wylde Ivy do offer 1 oz Perfume Spray for $17 or if you're international you may purchase their 1/3 oz Perfume Oil instead (since alcohol can't ship overseas) for $12. If you feel like sampling a bunch of fragrance, you can also do that, they have this 10 Perfume Vials for $15 deal, which I think is pretty neat.

Product Focus: NAKED Palette

I bought this palette months ago and sort of forgot to review it, life has been pretty interesting since I moved to Florida and for some reason I've always thought I already did review this magical palette. Today when I was doing mass-cleaning on my hard drive, I saw the swatches and almost deleted them. Thankfully my friend Hanmae *HAY GURL HAYYY* made me check my blog and that's when I realized I haven't even mentioned about this palette at all (lol how fail).

Anyway, this palette is made by Urban Decay, and unlike its typical bright, bold and colorful choices that UD has been known for, NAKED Palette offers a wide range of neutral colors that is more school/work-suitable. I literally jumped for joy the first time I heard about the launching of this palette because I've been a fan of the texture of Urban Decay shadows and I do collect their eye shadow palettes. I think it's a really good investment and in the end you're really saving a lot of money by buying the palette (UD Single Eyeshadow costs around $17).

NAKED Palette consists of 12 colors for $48, so you're practically paying $4 a shadow...I mean, hey, NYX single eye shadow costs about the same.

I have to say that in terms of quality, this palette is amazing. Every single color is very pigmented and the matte ones are buttery soft and easy to blend. The color combination is endless, you can't go wrong with these. If there's a massive tsunami attacking tomorrow and I could only bring one palette to the evacuation camp, this is what I'm gonna bring. I love it so much.

Seriously, just look at them. This palette has been my number one choice whenever I just need a simple makeup and also on one of those rough morning when you just want to slap some colors to look alive and don't want to think about it... this is what you need. Nothing else.

Here's how they look applied, honestly I forgot which colors I used but I think it was mostly the mattes (Naked & Buck) and Creed was applied along the lash lines.

I added Sin on my tearducts to brightens my eyes

As I said, NAKED Palette is perfect for that "I'm not wearing makeup" makeup :) If you want to look effortless, I think it should be effortless and I think I just found the right palette for that.

Solstice Scents Review

I've been hearing about Solstice Scent from their popularity of creating unique and "dark" scents. One of the scent that people were raving about is called Cenobite, which was rumored to be the perfect grown-up vanilla ever. Now that is quite a reputation to carry and although I have had love & hate relationship with vanilla scents in general, I decided to give it a try.

I made an order on March 26th, by the 28th they were ready to shipped and it arrived 3 days after. I only got myself a full size of Cenobite Perfume Roll-On ($9.00), and here's another cool thing about Solstice Scent: on every order you get to choose a scent for a free fragrance oil sample. I chose Spellbound Woods.

CENOBITE* ~ Dark, rich, boozy Vanilla Bean. Starts out as a strong vanilla liqueur but the dry down is a very smooth vanilla bean and French Vanilla.

SPELLBOUND WOODS* ~ A soft, incensy blend of vanilla, sandalwood, cedar and amber

Cenobite started of quite boozy on me, but it's not sickeningly sweet. As it settles on my skin, the warm Vanilla Bean started to come out stronger and the dry down is quite sexy and dry. I agree that this is not your usual foody buttercream vanilla which I happen to loathe. Cenobite is an intricate feminine vanilla that makes you feel grown-up. I adore this scent, I've been wearing it to bed because it's pretty much close to the skin. You just need to try it yourself and be surprised by how comforting this blend is.

Spellbound Woods has that cedar note hitting my nose right after I apply, yet everything else sort of blend together and create this beautiful scent that makes you feel like you're sniffing a house of Bilbo Baggins lol I don't know why I think of him, but it's probably by the fact that he's old, he smokes and always had his oven on, making some yummy cakes. This scent is beautiful, the amber and vanilla made the blend more sweet and wearable whereas the sandalwood and cedar added the depth. Again, I was so glad that I chose this amongst other beautiful sounding blend that Solstice Scents offers.

The perfume roll-on is VERY long lasting too. I'd love to try their other blends someday and probably in Body Ganache Cream and Whipped Soap since everyone was raving about it too.

I've been in a fragrance kick lately so I figured why not do this tag I found at Stefanie's blog. I probably won't specifically tag anyone because to be honest I have no idea who still reads this blog (or if there's even any *sobs*). So here we go!

1. Fragrance with the most memory attached?
One is Jean Paul Gaultier Classique, which my mom used for the very long time. I remember when I was young I used to sneak into my parents' bedroom and play in front of her vanity. I ALWAYS sniffed this perfume my mom bought from Paris but since it looked expensive I was too scared to actually spritz it on myself (lol what a scaredy cat I was!). Then she ran out of it and never purchased it again for some reason (I know it's quite expensive buying perfume back home, plus the concern of their authenticity was also questionable).

Another one is Clinique Happy Heart, my signature scent back in college.

2. Your most favorite perfume bottle?
Yep, it's none other than the Jean Paul Gaultier Classique :) Mostly because it has boobies.
I also love L'occitane Cherry Blossom's bottle.

3. Which perfume do you wish was still produced? (i.e. that was limited edition or has now been discontinued?)

The Body Shop Moonflower, which was my all time favorite back in high school. I almost bawled when they were dc-ed and went panicky to buy the overpriced perfume oils off Ebay.

4. Favourite perfume advertising campaign?

J'adore by Christian Dior. You know the one with Charlize Theron strutting her swaggah while undressing herself? I'm always stunned by how she said "J'adore~ Dior~" ... OMG it's so sexy French-o-licious!!!!

5. Best perfume related discovery?

Definitely Etsy and other e-tailer perfumes, they're mostly affordable and offer sample vials.

My favorite so far are Haus of Gloi, Wylde Ivy, and Lunableu (not Etsy).

6. Perfume that you expected to love and didn't?

Gucci Envy Me; I remember reading the notes and went to buy it because I was so sure it was for me but then I wore it and it was sort of underwhelming. I liked it tho, but it was just not as amazing as I hoped.

7. Perfume you would give your left arm for?

Probably Bond no.9 New Haarlem. I'm obsessed with it at the moment but holy saint peter on popsicle stick, THE PRICE!!!

8. Top 5 Favourite perfume notes?

9. Perfume you wish would die a horrible death?
The Sécrétions Magnifiques by Etat Libre d'Orange.

Swatches: New E.L.F Beauty Book

As I promised, here are the swatches of two palettes I got from Target. The colorful one is "Bright Eye Edition" and the other one is "Neutral Eye Edition". Each costs $5.00 and consists of 12 colors.

They remind me of E.L.F The Beauty Encyclopedia which I have reviewed here but I noticed some major differences in terms of color range and finish.

Neutral Eye Edition

As you can see from the picture, the top left color was a bitch to work with...I had to push and scrape and drag my finger on it for million times just to make it show up on my skin. Having said that the rest of the colors were pretty well pigmented, I can see myself using this palette a lot. The burgundy color is quite a nice addition of color although of course, it still stays in "neutral" category. I just wish the charcoal-almost black color to be less chalky.

Bright Eye Edition

The purples and browns are absolutely gorgeous but HOLY SHIT THAT ONE DAMN COLOR I HETCHU RAWRGHHHH!!!! It was even worse than the naughty one in Neutral palette...this one just basically doesn't show up at all. I was so frustrated by it lol. This palette actually has a slightly better pigmentation than the previous one, I love the darkest color in bottom right corner, it's such a cool plumish black with multicolor glitter in it.

Overall I think they are great to have, I know these palettes aren't the most pigmented out there but I actually like it for my reserved-lazy days when I don't feel like to be precise with my eye makeup, I could just swipe these colors on the go or just to play around with them without feeling guilty (coz they're dirt cheap ehehe).

Product Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

I got interested in this product after seeing many swatches and the idea of wearing a matte lip gloss. I love my lipstick and wear them much more often than lip gloss...and the reason being was because I hate the sticky feeling on my lips that most lip glosses give.

The colors that I picked up were Antwerp and Abu Dhabi. The tubes are smaller than NYX Mega Shine lip gloss, if you have those as reference, and they have doe foot applicators. This is random but I love how the cap feels, it's kind of matte and gives a sleek feeling lol

What I like about it, is that it's SUPER PIGMENTED. If I can describe this product, it's like a love child of a matte lipstick and a lip gloss, which makes sense considering the name. It applies and spreads out easily and will dry matte on your lips (which I love). The downside is, just like any other matte lip products, that it's quite drying...so make sure you exfoliate and apply lip balm beforehand.

What surprising is, the color stays on my lips for a very long time. It's such a pleasant surprise because no lip gloss I've tried so far would give this effect. I used it during Mardi Gras and that night I was drinking (Mom if you're reading this, I apologize okay EHEHEHE)...and that sucker stayed on until the end of the day. UH-MAY-ZING!

Ok, onto the swatches:

At first I was worried if Antwerp would be too bright on my lips but it turned out to be my favorite because the color is so flattering and I like the way it dries on my lips. This was me after wearing it for probably 4 hours, I kid you not.

I picked up these pretty little things at my ULTA, they sell for around $5 each but that store always have $3.50 off $10 so make sure you do your research before going there.

Tutorial: St. Patrick's Day Nails

Hello my pretties,

So I did this mani not so long ago and decided to post it up for St. Patrick's Day since the colors are appropriate. It's super fun and easy to do, you don't need a lot of tools nor technique. Ok, basically you can do this with any other color family, I chose green because I had this gorgeous mint green polish from Sally Hansen I was itching to use. Hopefully this step by step picture walk through/tutorial would be helpful ^^

What you need:

3 creme polishes from the same color family range from light to dark (e.g light blue, sky blue, dark blue)
1 glitter polish from the same color family
Make-up sponge

What you do:

After Base Coat, apply your lightest color. I did 1 coat because the polish that I used (SH Extreme Wear: Mint Sorbet) was awesomely opaque, but you may want to do at least 2 coats just to make sure.
Let it dry, apply the medium color. Now the trick is, you pour a blob of the polish on a sheet of paper, dab the tip of makeup sponge on it and dab the sponge right onto your nail half way down to your tips. Dabbing with a lighter hand would create a nicer and more random spots. I used Essence: Lime Up! btw...
Repeat the same process but with the darkest color to the lower 3/4 part of your nails that are already covered with the 2nd polish, I used Ulta: The Jungle Look.
Now for the last step is applying the glitter. It's basically the same thing, you pour the polish on the sheet of paper, dab the sponge and dab it on the nail. This part you should cover the last area you applied your darkest polish. I used Sinful Colors: Call You Later (this one is gorgeous^^!)

So the next time you want to amp up your pretty but boring mani like this

you know what to do to achieve this look :)

Product Focus: NARS Day and Night Palette

As I promised, here is a swatch/review of the first NARS product I have ever bought. My eyeshadow palette obsession kicked in again so when I spotted this palette in my local Marshall's I was over the moon. First because it's a freaking NARS product, second of all it was because the palette was inside the alarm box ... meaning it was UNTOUCHED.

Another reason was quite obvious:

Fifteen freaking dollars, dassrite.

This palette contains 6 colors which look like they would be gorgeous for Spring time.

Abyssinia: a shimmery beige
Sugarland: a shimmery peachy bronze
Fathom: a glittery light pink
Cleo: a pale seafoam green
Underworld: a deep steel blue
Night Breed: a black with silver glitter

The top rows are such great selection for brow bone colors, Fathom is probably the chalkiest among other 5 colors but it's not impossible to apply. I found Cleo to be quite pleasing although in the pan it can be intimidatingly light. My favorite would be Underworld (isn't it a cool name too? hehe), because it's great for liner as well as crease color.

I did a breakdown product of what I used here but this is basically how it wears on me

Trying out Wet'n'Wild palette

Greetings earthlings,

The lack of post in this blog has turned from an issue to a habit so I don't even want to waste your time by apologizing for my negligence.

Lately I've worn so many neutrals and Wet'n'Wild Comfort Zone palette has been the one that I frequently reach for. I found the name "Comfort Zone" is suitable because you can basically go no wrong with these color selections. For this look I used:

- Green Eyelid on my eyelid & lower lash line

- Brown Crease on outer V

- Green Crease to deepen the crease

- Bone Browbone to highlight

wearing Jordana Fabuliner as well :)

It's one of those pictures that when you look at it again you think,

"Wtf was I doing?" but you have to post it anyway because you have nothing better lol

ok I lied, this one is better but the one above shows a clearer eye look.

Either way I was not sure of what I was doing there lmao

Haul: Haus of Gloi (Valentine's Scent)

Another package showed up at my door and my mailman even made a remark "You always have packages that smell wonderful. Delivering to your house is my new favorite route if you ask me.", not quite sure if he was hitting on me or he was genuinely enjoy the smelling goodies lol (let's just hope the latter one...)

So this time is from Haus of Gloi, my old time favorite. I've talked to Britton a couple of times and it's just nice to see a young woman being very passionate about her business. Anyway, it's not the main reason I keep ordering from her, it's the quality of her products that made me go back wanting for more.

This time I ordered because I wanted to try her Litchi Milk Tea so bad, she hardly had it in stock months back so when she finally did a special on Valentine's, I caved in. Her TAT was less than a week and shipping was fast, I was very pleased with the entire process.

Now opening the package is a whole another experience because she did include cute polka dot wrapping papers in contrast with her goth black theme. Her labels are the greatest thing ever and they are very well sealed. No leaking, no spilling, no problemo.

Depravity
Pure corruption: clove, nutmeg lurk amongst the sweetest offerings of coconut, on a bed of rich golden amber, laden with dustings of sandalwood and spilled wine.

This smells like a wonderful spicy earth scent, it's very warm and sweet...very comforting. You know I don't really like spicy scent so I was worried if the "clove" and "nutmeg" would be too much for me...but boy I was proven wrong and I don't mind it : ) I'm Indonesian so smelling spices like this is like being at home getting traditional massage; the wine tho, rounds it up nicely and makes it smell rather sophisticated. This is a very complex and alluring scent to me. Glad I took the plunge and tried it.

Something Hopeful
Perhaps the first stirrings of the spring to come. Warm sakura blossom green tea with the tiniest droplet of plum juice, red mandarin and crystallized jasmine essence.

Green tea & Jasmine is probably my favorite fresh-floral combo other than something with Orange Blossom, and I'm always on a hunt for a great blend from e-tailers. Haven't had much luck in the past because most of them smell too astringent-y. This one is "almost" perfect for me. If I could describe it in one word it'd be "Fresh". It is very well blended so I can't just pinpoint scent that stands out, not sure if it's a good thing or not, depends on your preference. It also smells very clean and not offensive at all, soft and invigorating (from the citrusy mandarin, I s'pose?). The only downside is I guess, it's not too "unique" as I feel like I've smelled it before somewhere. Still nice to try :)

Litchi Milk Tea
Tart lychee fruit and black tea met with a splash of coconut milk.

Give me a Y, give me a U, give me a Mmmmmmmmm. Yes, this one is amazing. I've used this one a couple of times in the shower and the Lychee is just bursting out so fragrantly, it's like bathing with a bowl of real fruits. I can never understand how Britton nail this one so accurately. Some say they smell grapefruit in this scent, I honestly don't get any other fruit other than LYCHEE. The tea is not even bold like many other tea-infused scents and I do smell coconut milk in the background, but it's never surfacing to overpower the sweet fruit. I love this so much, it's very unique and fruity and amazing and all the good things in the world... lol

This is my first time trying her foaming sugar scrub (bubbling scrub) and I'm loving it too. I think I like it better than the Sugar Exfoliant just a tiny bit ^^

Sup followers, I recently saw space mani pictures floating around and found myself intrigued by them. I did my research and saw a beautiful picture as an inspiration.

For this look I used makeup sponge to dab the polishes over the base colors I already painted my nails with. I have to say I'm not completely satisfied with the look, I think a lighter hand could produce prettier stars :)

I heard about WnW bringing an 8-pans palette probably before Christmas last year, so much anticipation and ladies on MUA could not stop talking about it. Even if you weren't interested before, you would be at least curious on how well these palettes will be. Months past, and finally one by one started to chirp about spotting these palettes, but most of us weren't so fortunate, and not only because of the limitation that these palettes are Walmart & Walgreens exclusive.

So for a couple of weeks I actually believed that these palettes didn't exist (LOL) .. just to ease my curiosity and prepare for a huge disappointment in case my suck-ass Walgreens would never bring them in. Oh and by the way, my Walmart doesn't even carry Wet'n'Wild so that killed another possibility for me. BOO HOO.

Anyway, last week me & my bf went to Walgreens just to check things and they had a new display for Wet'n'Wild but they were mostly empty, only a couple of polishes and new trios were there. I asked the SA and she told me to come back on the weekend since their truck would have arrived with new stuffs by then. So I did, and luckily there were palettes available...but they almost ran out so if I was late by a day I don't think I would be able to snatch them.

Enough ranting/stories, onto the pretties!

Before I discuss about the palette, let me show you the nail polishes I bought from Wet'n'Wild. The first one is from their Halloween "Fantasy Makers" limited edition polish called Black Magic. It's black with multicolor strings....super gorgeous!

Then from their new Fastdry line, I picked up "Gray's Anatomy" which is supposed to be a dupe of Deborah Lippman "Wicked Game". I have it on my toes right now and it's SOOOOOOOOOOO PRETTY.

Just look at eeeeeeeet !!!

Another one I got is called "Party of Five Glitters" ... it's like a freaking pinata in a bottle, I don't even know anymore, so cool looking.

Moving on to the new trios that everybody's been talking about called "Silent Treatment" (hehe @ the irony), I agree, it's such an amazing palette.

Silent Treatment has a salmon-pink Brow Bone color, dark chocolate for Crease and silvery taupe for the Lid. Great choices, I must say.

And finally, these two suckers who had wasted a ton of gas for the trip I've made to search for them /shakes fist but they are so so so pretty so they are forgiven hehehe. I picked 2 from 3 that they have, "Petal Pusher" and "Comfort Zone". I skipped the blue palette just because I know myself and I hardly reach for blue shadows.

Overall the color payoff is great, I had trouble with the (L) Brow Bone color (ivory one) because it's the most chalky out of all. The darker shades are insanely pigmented. I personally love the (L) Eyelid color (matte lilac one) because I don't have anything like it and it's super gorgeous in real life.

Comfort Zone has such an amazing color selection and payoff. Every single shadows in this palette is very pigmented. If you see the (R) Brow Bone color, the swatch can't even justify how gorgeous it is...so I took a picture of how it looks on my finger.

If you could only get one palette, I'd say get Comfort Zone because the greens are gorgeous and the browns are amazingly pigmented. The (R) Definer color (the reddish one with green duochrome) is supposed to be a dupe for MAC Club eyeshadow too, it's gorgeous but honestly I think it's too coppery for my taste but I have yet to try it over black so I guess I shall not speak too soon ^______^ Overall, GREAT PALETTE!

That's all for now, I hope you can still find them in your local Walgreens or Walmart...they are $4.99 each and for 8 colors I'd say not bad at all.

Ughhh I love this color so much, I want to marry it.

This is Barielle polish called Elle's Spell, a gorgeous blood red color with green-yellow-orange flakes. I found this at my Ulta for $1.99 where they normally sell for $8.00. HOMAIGOD, right??? (I did a little victory dance in the store when I found out, no joke)

I believe you can still get it on their site here and other than the polishes, Barielle has an amazing nail treatment products. I got a chance to try them and they are seriously amazing, their Ultra Speed Dry Manicure Extender is the best Top Coat I've ever tried so far. Yes I am that gentleman and my whorehouse is Lunableu. I simply adored The Raven (which would be the whore in this case LOL) scent from my last haul, I came back for more. This time I took a plunge and ordered their Ice Fairy Princess Holiday Box by the end of November, received it sometime during Christmas. I went to NYC and came back during New Years so I didn't know exactly when it arrived. They had a long TAT (3-4 weeks) back then because of holidays so I didn't expect it otherwise.

~ My crack. Re-order because it is simply one of the best e-tailer scent I have come across.

~ Also re-order, the most sophisticated PS blend I've had tried so far :) It smells expensive, if ykwim.

3. State Fair Treats: A blend of all your favorite State Fair Treats Freshly-Spun Pink Cotton Candy,Yummmy Funnel Cake with Powdered Sugar, and Delicious Candied Red Apples.

~ Cold sniff is very apple-y but then it blends beautifully with other sugary sweet notes, definitely can smell Cotton Candy somewhere there.

4. Candy Punk

I honestly forgot what's in here exactly (it's a LE) but it's very bubblegum-y yet fresh at the same time ... yeah I know it's weird but I REALLY LIKE IT !

5. Shadow Witch: Vanilla Madagascar, Rice Flowers & Shea touched with Parma Violets & hints of blackberry

~ I ordered this because it's like a floral sister of The Raven, but I don't think I like it all that much. The violets does make a bold appearance and I find it sorta heady.

6. White Musk: Simply THE perfect “musk” scent! Trust us, this is unlike any other “white musk” on the market! Indulge your senses ~ you will fall in love with the simplicity of this beautiful fragrance!

~ It's just sooooooo pretty, can't wait to burn it on spring days :)

7. Blackberry Musk Noel: Our wonderful blackberry musk blended with vanilla bean noel, this one smells so wonderful!

I like it but I don't love it, I just realized VBN is a strong scent (same goes with PS, I guess) in blends and it just overpowers everything which is funny because VBN alone I would consider it "creamy" & "soft" lol idk

8. Little Black Dress: Bottom notes of White Carnation and blood orange are the perfect foil for the heart notes, comprised of sandalwood, black rose, smoky wood, and a kiss of patchouli. The top notes give a hint of toasted vanilla bean and whiffs of vetiver, amber, and the tiniest touch of Egyptian musk for a smoky, sexy finish.

~ Just like any other e-tailer's dupe, very complex & sophisticated...I love it.

9. Let Them Eat Cake!: A Rich Buttercream Frosted Cake!

~ Hmmmmmmmm... ok I feel bad for not liking this because it's a cult favorite but I know myself and I've never liked straight up buttercream frosting scents. Nothing wrong with the scent, it's just me.

Product Review:

All Edp, Body Mist & Roll On are strongly scented and they last a long time. Tarts are REALLY strong too, I even needed to break them in two because it's too overwhelming. Since I get to try all different kinds of creams, I can say that the Marshmallow Body Frosting has the thickest consistency, it's also spongy and very rich...I adore it, it sinks in so fast too. Goatsmilk & Honey cream is the lightest one. I'll show you with pictures:

Even if it's not, let's just say it comes close although frankly speaking I have no idea how a unicorn pee is supposed to look like. This polish is Hard Candy "Beetle", which you can get at Walmart. I put this on and ever since never stopped admiring how gorgeous this polish looks. It has that duochrome tint that changes if you move your fingers around. The purple and green with some gold does create a beautiful creation that makes me want to create some eye makeups the same way : D Anyway here are some more pictures, pardon me for being too enchanted by it, I even forgot to take a picture with the bottle lol..oh well.

Product Focus: WnW "Heather Silk" Blush

The heaven gate opens and the angels sing. Someone in Wet'n'Wild company must have done something right because I simply can't believe how amazing this drugstore brand has become. I took advantage of 50% off Walgreens last week for WnW, hoping to score some of their new 8 colors eyeshadow palettes or new lines of nail polishes, but apparently my Walgreens doesn't believe in fast-restocking so I was left with the current items.

My eyes landed on this blush, but I wasn't sure if it's worth it....luckily I have a little bit of an impulse buy illness and the "50% off" red tags kinda got me there & then. I bought it, went home, and swatched it on my hand to see how the color goes.

MY GOODNESS.

I fell in love even before reading much further on the internet, that this particular color (Heather Silk), could be a dupe of NARS Mata Hari. I mean, that is just mad awesome.

Heather Silk looks quite intimidating on a pan, it's a matte deep muted pink blush. It also applies like a dream, very well pigmented and the color you see is what you get. Before I continue my blabber, have some pictures to vouch for my words.

If I have to say something negative about it, I'd probably say that it's a little powdery. But in terms of longevity and pigmentation, cross my heart, this will not disappoint. It comes with an angled blush brush but I don't plan to use it because it looks like this

Some are products I've bought/tried but never shared with you all, but worry not because I will give a brief review on those and why I think they're the bomb : )

1. Earth Glo Minerals Smooth Face Primer

It's my 2nd bottle, this product is comparable to Smashbox Photo Finish, leaving my skin silky smooth and doing a great job in "erasing" pores prior to foundation application. I love it more than MAC Prep + Prime (which I finished but I suspected broke me out somewhere along the line). This sucker only costs around $7 and although the bottle looks tiny, you actually get tons of product, and each application you only need a pea-sized blob for the entire face. You can get it here (not affiliated etc etc)

2. Pure Anada Mineral Foundation

Yep, still my HG Foundation, it's amazing for my acne-prone oily skin and for some reason it never runs out LOL...I've had it for the longest time and whenever I take a peek, it seems like I only use a tiny bit...idk it's a mystery. This is their site... my shade is Niagara Fawn btw.

3. NYX Blush in Raisin

This is what I use whenever I'm on the go or lazy because this color amazingly appears on my skin as a blush AND bronzer. I can just swipe it across my cheeks and I will look blushed and contoured. It works better on me during cooler months & when I'm slightly paler. It can be seen in this picture below:

4. Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City

A dupe of NARS Orgasm & Laguna Bronzer : ) What more can I say, it's so wearable and gives me a healthy look. Plus it doesn't break me out and the sheen is actually not loud at all.

5. Too Faced Shadow Insurance

UDPP I love you and imma let you finish but TFSI is the best eye primer of ALL TIME!!!! loljk but seriously, Urban Decay...your product is great but your packaging sucks gargantuan balls. I'd prefer Too Faced just because it's a squeeze tube and it's been holding my eyeshadows like a mofo.

6. NYX Smokey Eye Palette

I didn't even bother swatching this palette because I bet all of you and your mothers have it already. It's such a cool palette to create a cool-toned smokey look and I also use the 2nd color from the left on the bottom row to fill in my brows.

8. Jordana "Fabuliner" Liquid Eyeliner

This eyeliner rocks my socks. I've worn them the entire time I was in New York during blizzard, snow, rain and sunshine (I'm not even kidding you...). The tip is very pointy, it doesn't smudge, it doesn't sting my eyes (I wear contact lenses), it's also easy to apply and very very cheap. Everyone should go buy one just because.

9. EOS Lip Balm

All cool kids have it, I like it personally too and the main reason why is because with this lip balm, I don't have to smear it around like I normally do with any other lip balm. What I do is to pout and rub this cutie across my lips. It's like cutting the job in half LOL yeah I'm THAT lazy, guys.

10. NYX Round Lipstick in Mars

Still my favorite shade from NYX, it's a perfect neutral-nude that doesn't make me look like death.

11. Drugstore Polishes

Awesome and affordable. Wet'n'Wild & Sinful Colors are my faves, with Sally Hansen comes next on the list. Look at dem sparkles....look at dem!!!

12. Victoria's Secret Amber Blackberry Velvet

This scents got me so many compliments and my bf who normally can't distinguish between the smell of Palmolive & Chanel Chance always asks what I was wearing... "because it smells good" ~ quoting him /roll eyes.

13. Equate Medicated Acne Gel

Well yes, I've gone back to Benzoyl Peroxide because sadly enough that's the only thing that seems to put my acne at bay. It's a similar product to Clean & Clear Persagel, only cheaper since it's a Walmart brand. Works as good and my skin has been in control ever since I used it last October :)

Wet'n'Wild keeps pleasing me with their quality products, albeit the image of being a drugstore makeup brand. I came across this stunning polish back in December and it was sitting in my drawer the whole time. The reason I picked it up?

Well...go see for yourself:

Yeah, so I just HAD to use it and boy oh boy...I'm in love. This is a blackened purple glitter which applies like a dream. The first coat worries me because it goes on quite sheer but the 2nd one gives me an opaque and the 3rd one is like a climax (lol)

The finish is not quite jelly-like so I'd suggest the use of a TC. If you can find it in your local drugstore, go snatch it, knowing the brands these days you don't know when they're gonna discontinue items.

My Perfect Shades of Red (MAC Dupes)

Remember when you were young, sitting in front of your mother's makeup table, feet barely touched the ground, you picked up a red lipstick, smeared it around and pretended to be a confident, grown up woman? Red lipsticks represent everything a woman should be: bold, classy, and beautiful. This is why throughout my younger days I always wanted to be able to wear a red lipstick without looking like a clown.

Unfortunately, trend shifted and nude lippy became huge again. So not until this year (I am 24, yes) I finally embraced myself and began searching for a perfect red lipstick for myself, and actually wear it outside. It is challenging to find a shade that works for your skin tone and avoid from looking like the red lipstick is wearing YOU, not the other way around.

For those of you who are still afraid to wear it, well...DON'T BE. I know it's quite intimidating, and for someone whose lipstick collection's consist of shades ranging from Nude to Mute Pink, I honestly know how it feels. All you have to do is find the one that works for you.

The good news is, I think I've found it. There are 2 shades that I think it goes perfectly with my color. I have a yellow, slightly olive undertone, and I am a Medium Tan. I normally stay away from the yellow-based red (like orangey-red) and lean towards the burgundy or deep red. So after an intense search and lurking from one drugstore to another, I found these two:

NYX Round Lipstick in Snow White
Wet'n'Wild Mega Last Lipstick Matte in Cherry Bomb

NYX Snow White

This color does look like something Mrs. Snow White would be packing on while lying inside her coffin before smooching her Prince. It's fire-y red with a slight brownish tone and it's quite bold

Snow White is also a dupe of MAC Dubonnet.

Wet'n'Wild Cherry Bomb
This one is a deep burgundy color, gives you the "vampish" feeling. I personally think it's beautiful and rich, but I'd like to use a lip liner (I like Rimmel 061 Wine) prior to application because of the matte finish of the lipstick.

FOTD: Vanity Nude

A quick out-the-door neutral look using Wet'n'Wild ColorIcon palette called "Vanity", read review here. I can't tell you enough how much I adore this drugstore gem, and if you can find it please get one and prove it yourself! :)

What I used:

* 3 - all over lid

* 1 - highlight

* 4 - inner tear duct

* 5 -outer V, lower lashline

* 6 - crease, lower lashline

I also popped L'oreal Black Creme liner and Milani Black eyeliner pencil underneath the lower lash line. As for face, I let my skin breathe and only used Everyday Mineral Spring concealer to cover up some problematic areas and Milani Sunset City Duo Blush/Bronzer (which is supposed to be a dupe of NARS Orgasm & Laguna Bronzer). On lips I used Bourjois 04 Sable Unique (Lovely Rogue lipstick), it's basically my perfect nude --> read the review here.

This is a review of an order I made back in October. I've had great experience with Lunableu before and I wanted to try their tarts and I was also VERY curious about their foaming body scrubs. So on October 16th I made an order, knowing their TAT was a little long because of their Halloween special & sale. If I'm not mistaken their TAT was 3-4 weeks and my order was completed on November 4th and shipped on November 15th. To be honest I had no idea why it took 11 days for my order to be shipped out but anyway, I was so thrilled to receive it anyway.

What I ordered:

Foaming Sugar Scrub Splits 8 oz in Blackberry Sugar & Crimson Candy
Cupcake Cuties in Gingerbread Noel & Pink Fairy Dust

But to my surprise I got 5 tarts (3 extras). The extras are in Death by Cotton Candy, The Raven, and Mandarin Orange Cupcakes.

Scents Description:
1. Blackberry Sugar: ~lunableu blend~ Fluffy cotton candy, sweet pink sugar, and juicy blackberries.
2. Crimson Candy: ~lunableu blend~Real Italian Blood Orange, Sweet-tart blackberries, Candyfloss and the sweetest Orange

Review
The scrubs are perfect, I love its consistency, it's not too scrubby but not runny either, nicely whipped and strongly scented. I adore the mix of blackberry and blood orange ever since I tried Get Whipped Blood Orange Blackberry scent and since that store closed, I've been in search for the closest scent I could find. The mix of Blackberry Sugar and Crimson Candy is superb, no notes overpowers the others, they're all nicely blended and it's sweet, fruity and uplifting.

Scent wise, Lunableu never disappoints. The reason why I only ordered their "special house blend". Gingerbread Noel is really yummy, normally gingerbread scent can be too spicy but this one is just creamy and you can smell the VBN peaking thru. Pink Fairy Dust is a re-order for me, I love Pink Sugar blend and PFD is very sophisticated and unique. I can't really describe it, you just have to try it yourself :)

Death by Cotton Candy is LB best seller and I always wondered why people love this so much, I'm glad Tanya threw this in for me to try. The scent is very fruity and sweet, on a cold sniff you get a lot of apples and it gets sweeter as the vanilla and cotton candy start to emerge. Honestly I can't smell the strawberry but this scent is again, very sweet, so I'm sure Strawberry chips in to its sweetness factor :)

Now, The Raven. HOLY SHIT. I have found my crack. I didn't expect to love it this much but I've been burning this tart for days non-stop (and it's still going strong fyi) It's soft yet creamy and fruity...this scent is so unique too, I don't think I've ever smelled anything like this before. So yeah, if you decide to order from LB, GET THIS ONE!!! I highly recommend it.

NOTD: Sinful Colors Call You Later

For some odd reason I never tried this brand although I have walked pass their stand in Walgreens for so many times. Well, not until last week where I went there to buy some pad (lol) and their pretty bottles were calling my name.

I picked up 5 bottles and 3 of them are glitters. This is such a huge step for me because I hated glitters and always found them being so much pain in the butt to take off. But these colors are so gorgeous and I figured Christmas is coming so why not trying something more festive and glam?

This particular post is for the color called "Call You Later", basically a mix of kelly green, and forest green glitters with some golden specks filling in. The glitters themselves are packed and can be worn on its own. In the picture I had 3 coats and as you can see it's very well pigmented.

Sinful Colors are $1.99 each & you can find them at your local Walgreens or Rite-Aid.

Product Review: E.L.F The Beauty Encyclopedia

In between my mundane stroll inside Target several days ago, I found the beautiful rack of E.L.F products and the bright red round tag saying "$5" lured me in like a kid walking into a candy store. I gambled and picked up 2 of them, one is a Smokey Edition and the other one is Neutrals Edition (of course, my boring inner soul picked this one). I came home and started to play around with it and I had to say I am quite impressed. The colors are gorgeous and versatile; you can simply create many looks and combination just using one palette.

Smokey Edition

This palette has at least 3 possibilities of smokey eyes: smokey blue, smokey purple, and basic smokey. Some of the colors are chalkier than the others but the highlight colors are absolutely smooth and easy to apply. I'm a fan of the bright purple in the middle, it's just simply gorgeous.

Neutrals Edition

If you're looking for a fairly inexpensive neutral palette, this would be good for you because it consists of a variety shades from beige, orange, mauves and browns. Just keep in mind tho, they are mostly cool-toned colors so if you'd prefer warm shades, don't get this one :) Other than that, this palette is pretty good, some shades show up better than others (just like the other palette) but for 5 bucks I'd say go ahead and give it a try.

Overall I'd give it 3.5 / 5 because they're not really buttery smooth and dare I say Wet'n'Wild Color Icon Palettes are better. Having said that, it's worth trying, I mean for $5 you get 12 shadows, you can at least buy it for the highlight shades which, in my opinion, are more pigmented than the darker ones.

OMG An Update !!! (+ Review, Haul & more)

Hey guys !

Oh my goodness, how long has it been? I deeply apologized (i know, for the gazillionth time) for not updating. Many reasons I could throw out there but I bet you're not really interested in details. Anyway, I just recently moved away from Hawaii but I will soon return next year. I settled in my new place and I do plan to keep this blog alive again, cross my heart.

So, for a start, how about a review?

I visited my *new* local Walgreens for Halloween stuffs last week and saw they had a 50% off sale on Wet'n'Wild items, my eyes went O___________O because there are stuffs I badly wanted to try and I would have gotten them anyway even without the discount. So I marched my way to the aisle and snatched 2 of their Color Icon Palette in Vanity (browns) and Lust (purples).

AMAZING. I love them not just for the price, the texture is velvety smooth and to my surprise, the matte ones are easier to apply and have better pigmentation than the satin ones. Vanity has 2 nice matte brow bone colors and the browns are so wearable. Lust has 1 pastel baby pink that is so adorable and I hardly find mattes in that color that is so pigmented and soft. The purples are gorgeous and the dark burgundy color is perfect for crease to deepen your night look.

Haul of The Day : Isle of Eden

Yet another bath & body haul post =) I forgot if I mentioned this, but I've been in a no buy since Christmas and just recently started to jump back into the scrub bandwagon, head first. I'm seriously helpless and blaming the summer weather for wanting to buy more fruity scents like watermelon, blackberries and bubblegums.

Anyway, I purchased Isle of Eden scrubs (really forgot when exactly) and received them pretty much within their previous TAT. I know some people are still having problems with their orders but fortunately it never happened to me as far as ordering goes *knock on woods*. I bought 2 smaller size of Sugar Glow scrub, probably the only product I think is worth ordering from IoE. I heard their EDP and hair conditioner are fab as well, but I have yet to try those.

The scents that chose were:
1. Blood Orange Sunset Cake - Could a beach with a blood orange sunset be any prettier? We don't think so! You'll love this tropical treat just as much! Blood orange blended perfectly with juicy pineapple creme, mango mousse cake with an additional of Sugar Cake.
2. Pink Dream Angels - Heavenly Dream Angel (Victoria's Secret Type), kissed with Angelic Pink Sugar (Aquolina Type).

Blood Orange Sunset Cake

You know how I love me some Blood Orange, and this is just a gorgeous blend of orange, with a hint of pineapple and mango. The orange is surely dominant but the other 2 just give an extra oomph to the fruity summery goodness. This is a must try.

Pink Dream Angels

This is an amazing blend, I love every Heavenly dupe out there better than the original Victoria's Secret one (weird, i know) and I wouldn't have thought that mixing it with Pink Sugar would smell this great.

The Sugar Glow scrubs consistency never fail me, they're nicely whipped and packed to the brim. Alexa sprinkled some fine glitter on top and they're just gorgeous to look at. I have another review of CYS coming soon, so stay tune for that =)

EOTD: Midnight Pomegranate

I was inspired by one of the scent line of Bath & Body Works called Midnight Pomegranate. Although it's not my favorite scent from them, I've always thought the combination of dark pink, orange, and purple that is shown on their packaging, was beautiful.

I used my 96 color palette again since I didn't aim for any shimmer. For base, dark pink color from Mehron Aqua Pastel palette was used and the rest are from drugstore (Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara, Jordana Rich Vanilla for highlight and L'oreal HiP Cream liner). I don't really like how I did my liner this time (boooo) but overall, the color came out nicely.

I know, I know...I need to stop neglecting this sad blog, and start updating more since I promised you to...but to my defense (lol) I have been in a no-buy and I'm surprisingly doing a good job. That being said, I haven't had any new haul or anything. But then again, it's not really an excuse for not updating now, is it?

Anyway for this look I chose green & aquamarine color since they always remind me of my favorite beach in O'ahu called Lanikai. I used my 96 Palette from Ebay. The main lid color would be the bright green, 3rd from the bottom. It's quite pastel-y but I like the contrast with the aquamarine color (4th from top). Other product used were Mehron Paradise Aqua Palette (green base), L'oreal Lash Stiletto mascara & HiP Cream Eyeliner.

I was contacted by Emma, the owner, to try out some of her products. She makes her own products after so many years of tweaking & trials and her products don't contain harsh ingredients like parabens & SLS.

I visited her site and squealed over how cute it looks, and the fact that I CAN MIX MY OWN SCENT. I found it uber cool and I could decide on how much percentage of each scent in the mixture.

So here are my "mix & match" order
1. Whip (Strong & Colored; Pink Sugah 35% - Fruit Burst 65%)
2. Sugar Bubble (Strong & Colored; Berry Garden 50% - Cotton Candy 50%)
3. Daily Shine (Uncolored; Sun-kissed Mimosa)
4. Daily Dose (Colored; Blue Raspberries 50% - Lime Splash: 50%)
5. Sniffles (Jojoba Oil; Black Tie Affair)

Pink Sugah: Top notes of smooth Jamaican vanilla and caramel are chased by Bergamot, Sicilian Orange, Raspberry, Fig leaves, Licorice, Strawberry Candy, Barbe-a-Papa, and musk with a dry down of Lily of the Valley, rich woods, and delicate powder.

Fruit Burst: A fruity mix of apples, peaches, strawberries, cherries and tangerines with a drydown of sweet cotton candy and vanilla.

Berry Garden: Discover a hidden treasure of tangy apples, orange blossoms, tart cranberries, mulberries, and blackberries dancing on a base of spun sugar and juicy strawberries.

Cotton Candy: Sugary strawberry and vanilla smells just like cotton candy being spun right in front of you.

Sun-kissed Mimosa: Top notes of mandarin, oranges, tangerines and sweet berries mixed with mimosa blossoms, peaches, pineapple, and plums resting on a base of lily, vanilla, soft jasmine and lavender.

Blue Raspberries: The sweet scent of ripened blue raspberries in the summer sun. This is not a candy-like raspberry, but rather a "real" raspberry fruit.

The Sugar Bubble (foaming sugar scrubs) is so pretty & smells like a fruity bubblegum, it's my favorite out of the bunch.

The Whip (creamy whipped soap), Emma sent an extra jar in Strawberry Dreams because she's making 2 different texture, the soft & harder one. This is what the soft one looks like, scented with my original scent mix (Pink Sugah & Fruit Burst)

and the firmer version (Strawberry Dreams)

I personally like the softer one better,
also for the scent Strawberry Dreams
(Sweet and creamy vanilla blended with juicy strawberries,
and a dash of coconut) smells to sweet for my liking.

The shampoo and conditioner have yet to be tested but they are both smells amazing & fresh. The sniffles (perfume vial) is such a good way to test a scent and the Black Tie Affair smells soooooooooo sexy. I'm planning to order something with that scent =)

Overall, I'm very pleased with this new company, their prices are also very reasonable, and the $5 shipping of any US order & $5 off International order deal are just too awesome to pass, right?

Flutterby Beauty

I read so many reviews on this company and its wide array of Lush dupe scents, and I think last winter I was so curious on LUSH Yummy Yummy Yummy and Sultana so I decided to make a small order from them.

I chose to order their trio Whipped Body Polish sampler, basically 3 jars of 3 oz foaming body scrubs, which allow you to pick more scent without committing to buy a large jar. For $10.95 I think it's a pretty good deal. The scents I chose are

American Dream: An irresistible blend of vanilla absolute with hints of clary sage and lavender on a woody base. (Compare to Lush American Cream)

Empress: This gorgeous fruity floral fragrance will lure you in with black currants and berries, sparkling bergamot, exotic blooms, and mysterious olibanum. (Compare to Lush Sultana)

Yummyberry: A delectable blend of Succulent strawberries, sweet honey water, and squeeze of fresh orange. (Compare to Lush Yummy Yummy Yummy)

To my nose, they smell pretty identical and I really love the Body Polish feels, I think for the quality, it's up there with Isle of Eden and Cleanse Your Soul scrubs.

EOTD: Purple Passion

Well well well...look who's back! =D

First of all, HELLO NEW FOLLOWERS, thank you for stopping by and following me. I'm sorry I haven't been so great at keeping this post fluid but I can't really give you a good reason other than I haven't worn much makeup recently. I also haven't purchased bath & body products ever since I went into a no buy. My Isle of Eden scrubs are still sitting neatly in the darkest corner of my drawer, untouched and curing.

Anyway, today I decided to play with colors again, and I chose purple.

YEAH.....what a surprise, right??? LOL Well, if you're my long time follower, you would know how much I love purple although it's risky of choosing the right shade that doesn't make you look like you just involved in a nasty gang fight and got punched right in the eye.

I used my Miss Rose Palette which was always gawking at me, begging to be touched (ew) and here are the colors

1 on brow bone
2 on tear duct
3 on the lid
4 on outer corner
5 applied above the crease

It's more of a smoked out purple which could be an alternative for going out at night if you're bored of just using black for smoky eye.

Before I end this post, I want to share a mini haul I did back in December from Jojelle. I purchased their Whipped Bubble Scrub because I've heard so many great things about it, and it did lift up to my expectation.

The scent I chose is PUMPKIN LAVENDER, an interesting combination but I really like it..,,smells so sexy and the pumpkin isn't being too foody in this. The scrub consistency is in the middle, not as scrubby as Isle of Eden's but not as creamy as Haus of Gloi's. It is a clean rinsing and as far as I remember, it did not leave any oil residue on my tub.

FOTD: Whimsical Valentine

OMAGAH I feel like it's been years since I posted something :( So sorry guys, winter makes me lazy hehehe.

Without further ado, here are a recent look that I created. I'd call it a Whimsical Valentine. Well, since Valentine it's on its way, I figured I'll create some looks that could be worn during Valentines. I'm not personally big on wearing pinks on my eyes so I'd prefer playing with other colors that are still soft & girly.

Anyway, I decided to use my Miss Rose 40 Eyeshadow Palette (hello, long time no see! ^^) and Mehron Aqua Pastel Palette as a color base product.

Product Focus: Isle of Eden (Revisit)

Happy New Year !!!

I finally found some time to write on this blog : ) Recently I have received a couple of orders I made during Christmas. All of them are bath stuffs so if you're not interested on scrubs & bath creams, just ignore this post hehe

If you guys search for Isle of Eden on the internet, you might have found some mixed experiences regarding this company's service. I have purchased from them in the past for about 2 times and they were all a pleasant experience.

Now let me give you a brief story of why people were upset. If you order from an e-tailer, you should be expecting a TAT (Turn Around Time), meaning the company will take some time to make your order (it's FRESH, unlike the ready-to-ship items from Retailers) and it does take time before they're being sent out to you.

Some companies have a short TAT, some take longer. Isle of Eden was very famous back then and people were crazy, ordering scrubs etc to a point where their TAT reached 3-4 months.

That is crazy. People were complaining of getting their Christmas order during Summer time. After that, they just kind of died down, those who were pissed off would stop ordering. Those who didn't get any trouble but heard abt the news, also stopped ordering because they're afraid to experience the same thing.

Apparently over couple of months, Isle of Eden (IoE) revamped their storage, staffs and what not, in order to deliver a better service. They redesigned their site, forum and promised that what happened in the past, won't be happening again.

I decided to give them a second chance, because although it's hard to say, their body scrubs are superb. I love their scent selections and the quality of their product, that's probably the only thing that hooked me, otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered going back to them.

I made an order on December 17, took advantage of their Christmas sale, $30 for 3 items on their site. It was a pretty darn good deal considering each scrub costs around $12~
Their shipping for US customer was also reduced to $5 so I figured it was a really good timing. The TAT was 10 days and my order was completed on December 31st (not bad). Shipping took about 5 days to reach here and it was understandable, considering the medium size flat rate box.

So anyway, my order was:

1. Sugar Glow in The Haunted Victorian Gingerbread House
2. Holiday Sundae: Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail
3. Holiday Sundae: Blood Orange Cotton Candy & Blissberry Marshmallow White Cake

I was surprised to see they sent me a free scrub, a Sugar Glow in Give the Grinch some Sugar! and 2 HUGE tarts in Noel Cake & Royal Blackberry Marshmallow White Cake.

Product Description
Sugar Glow: probably one of my favorite body scrub out there, it's a clean rinsing with a good balance of exfoliating. I don't find the granules harsh at all either. I love this scrub : )
Holiday Sundae: it was a Christmas special, basically a Sugar Glow in the bottom and Bath Cream on top, so you will get to try 2 different products in 1 jar. The scents could be picked separately.

EOTD: Vampy's Blood

I know it's a little late for Halloween but I was in an urge to do a dark smoky look. Brown and black have been done before so I was flipping through my mineral samples to see if there's anything else I could use.

I saw this lovely jewel blue from Archetype Cosmetic called Black Dahlia, it's actually a dark blue (almost black) pigment with blue sparkles. I decided to incorporate it with a red pigment from NYX called Penny and used Lucky Charm, a black with purple glitter pigment from The She Space. Dirty Blonde was applied for highlight.

The result is quite dark because I did prime my lid with NYX Black Bean JEP, but I quite like it. I just wished the camera would pick up more blue because it does look bluer in real life. Oh well =)

EOTD: UD Get Baked Palette pt.2

Today I experiment with the same palette I received recently which is Urban Decay Get Baked Palette. I did the pretty obvious color combination on my previous post, which was using Flipside (the teal color) as the main lid color but I was asking myself, is that it?

Obviously no, because I love doing neutrals color on my lid for everyday look and I do love wearing a pop of color on my lower lash line, to brighten the look.

I personally think this particular look I do is very suitable for Summer days where you don't really wanna look like you spent hours doing your makeup, but still pretty & wowza. Well, you all probably have done this for so long now and I'm just blabbering like a fool hahah.

So onto the product breakdown, I used Mehron Paradise Aqua Color Palette in Pastel as a base instead of UDPP Sin, I have no negative thing to say to Mehron so I'll just leave it there. I also did cat eye lining for fun, it does make the eyes appear sultry.

What I used:

The swatches of Mehron. The brown the teal one I used on lower lash line, obviously.
I also used another gorgeous shadow from Urban Decay called Ransom,
it's a lovely blue with purple-ish undertone, but the picture above makes it look more purple.

The UD Get Baked Palette, Half Baked is used on inner 1/3 of lid, Baked on middle lid, and Twice Baked on crease. Flipside was swept on the lower lash line along with Ransom focusing more on the outer part of lower lash line.

(It's funny that Flipside appears more bluish on this look :D)

EOTD: Urban Decay Get Baked Palette (Plus Review)

I have always like Urban Decay for their bold colors and cute packaging, not to mention their great eyeshadow palettes that comes out regularly. If you remember I did reviews on Urban Decay Deluxe Palette and I really do love it.

Now, this would be my 2nd palette from Urban Decay and I ordered this at Sephora.com using Sephora Gift Certificate that was handed out for the Beauty Insider last week. I noticed this Get Baked Palette was on sale, the regular price was $28 and it went down to $18. I had $15 Gift Certificate and was able to found a free shipping code from Retailmenot so all & all I ended up only paying less than $4 for this. Isn't it a steal?

Well, I know I don't need another eyeshadow palette but I figured this palette comes with a travel size Sin Primer Potion & 24/7 Liner in Bourbon.

Packaging

It comes in cardboard box with magnetized opening. The eyeliner was included inside the palette. I personally like the design, it reminds me of BATIK.

Color & Pigmentation

Get Baked Palette contains of 4 colors: 1 teal color called Flipside, and 3 bronzes called Half Baked, Baked and Twice Baked. All of them are shimmery, but Twice Baked can be considered as a "low shimmer". They are all pigmented and very versatile. I believe this palette came during Summer and I can see why, the bronzes reminds me of sand & glowing skin and the teal color play a nice twist like an ocean color.

Swatch
The first swatch was done with no base whatsoever, so you can see the true color payoff. I must say, impressive.

Then I used NYX Blackbean Jumbo Pencil as a base to see how the colors would turn out. As you can see they became more vibrant with a black base although I don't think Baked changed as much.

Product Review: Revlon Runway Collection Nails

I was sent a couple of Revlon artificial nails a while back and I never had a time to try them out. As you all know, I don't normally wear fake nails for the sake of flexibility, I always feel that there's some foreign object stuck into my fingers and I just couldn't get over that sensation.

But I'm always up for a challenge and since it's holidays, I thought hey why not give it another try? So I did put these on last week and planned to wear it for couple of weeks.

The design I tried from Revlon Runway Collection is called Minx (91095). After approximately 6 days of wearing, I decided to take them off because I just didn't feel uncomfortable. It could be the length of the nails which on the box is said to be "Medium Length". I personally don't really like having long nails (my real nails) because I found it bothersome so I don't think it's the fake nails that causing me to feel uncomfy.

Other than that, I am really liking the design, I think it's super cute with the grid & the glitter tip, it's the prettiest design of Revlon Runway Collection that I found. The application was easy, you just need to apply the glue directly on your nails OR behind the fake nails and attach them together while pressing for 3-5 seconds. The only downside is that the air bubbles appeared on most of my nails although it's hardly visible.

If I could rate it, I'd give 3/5 for overall performance & 5/5 for the design itself :D
